Bass are great predators, if it will fit in their mouth they will eat it.

I would not stock hybrids or any other predator fish into the pond. Other predator fish will compete with the bass for food and stunt their overall growth.

daisypugsy I didn’t think of it that way I was thinking the hybrids would get possibly bigger than bluegill but that’s true they would probably compete with bass and stunt the growth of all the other fish

But the hybrids wouldnt breed, so if he stocked small ones they would compete but also be a good food source for predators because remember he got a crap ton of cats. Those things get big fast.

Other predator fish would be fish like gar, pickerel, perch, trout, walleye, bowfin, crappie, eels, etc. If you want a natural wild pond with a variety of fish and other animals, you could stock those with your bass, bluegill, redears, catfish and crawfish (especially if it's a HUGE pond). But, if you want a pond with extremely large bass, bluegill and catfish, most of those are not eligible .

More species makes the bass more adaptable so the green sunfish would make a good backup food source if something like a deep freeze or warm spell happened

I have to say I completely agree, pure example of how people think having some money is a good substitute for knowledge and proper fishery management. Everything from throwing fish off the truck and incorrect net practice, to trying to catch tadpoles with a slice of bread in a basket with holes big enough for the tadpoles to swim through. Just absolutely clueless. Then left two traps to sit there fishing when they saw the bread come out of the trap when they threw it in? Wtf
