Stockton Sears Store Closing -Weberstown Mall (1966-2024) Final Day Store Tour

[Recorded 8-16-24] This Sears store opened in 1966 as an original anchor to this mall. Its final day of operation is today August 17th, 2024. This video was filmed yesterday, as I read the last day would be the 16th, but store employees confirmed that they would pull through until the end of Saturday for one more extra day. This is a quick store tour of what was left at the time, which wasn't much. The entire basement was closed off, which is a shame because I wanted to get one last look down there. This store lasted for a LONG time. It was one of 4 remaining stores in California and one of 12 left in the entire United States. I live 10 minutes away. Sad to see my childhood Sears now permanently closed. Also bummed that I didn't go see the store on its last days. RIP 1966-2024

I went to Sears at South Shore Plaza recently, and while I was excited to see a Sears operating, it was sad to see it the way it was. Everything was spaced far apart and there was a lot of dead space. A good amount of it was filled with appliances still in the wrapping, which I bet would normally be kept in the backroom, only to keep the salesfloor filled with what little merchandise they had. What was interesting was seeing the old price scanners and point-of-sale systems; since Sears is going down by the wayside they have no reason to upgrade. Great video!

It gets rare nowadays to even find a Sears because a lot of the Sears stores are slowly dying a slow painful death! Carson’s pirrie Scott died out in 2018 after bankruptcy was declared

Oh wow, so sad. I haven’t been to Sears in at least 10 years, and they’re all gone near me. Hope I can make it to at least one location to film before they’re all gone. Very nice video.

That store meant everything to me, riding my first Otis series 1 elevator was at that Sears, that store was a childhood
