This was one of the best drum sheds I've ever seen. All of them were awesome and they're all young. The sky is the limit for all of them!

This is what kids need to see and do today. This should be an outlet for our children. Music it just does something for the mind, body, and soul. It's said it calms the savage beast. Music is a weapon too. Yall go head play to the Glory of the Lord

Love the quick tag teaming. This is also a good "first look" for novices because it's clean and it's mostly 16th notes at a tempo you can hear easily, so there's a lot of transcribe-able goodness here!

The first time I saw this was in 2018. This is 2021 and this remains one of the best drum sheds I've ever seen! All of them were awesome and they're all young. The sky is the limit for all of them! As a matter of fact, I subscribed to Tony Taylor's channel. I'm not sure if the other drummers have a KZbin channel but if they do, I'm subscribing to theirs, too. It's only right!

As I'm watching this again, I've been playing the drums for 23 years and some change and I wish I had half the drumming gifts they had! I also wish I would've gotten started sooner than 18 years old. I'm 41 now and I'm trying to get back in the drumming shape I once was in. I may not get there but I'm gonna give it all I got and these guys are part of the reason why! Let me add that I don't look at too many videos from beginning to end. Well, this is one of them!

...My point is, what kind of people would criticize a teen-age practice session and compare these talented kids to seasoned veterans??? If these kids were a different ethnicity, they would probably be praised. Folks did the same with Charlie Parker, Miles Davis and Jimi Hendrix. Face it clowns - this is the new standard - so, step up or step off! I'm adding the linear feel to my repertoire and I will benefit from it.
@HuffManic10 жыл бұрын
You know, if you look at any drum video on youtube, there's going to be people saying negative things. Hell, ANY video for that matter. But there are only a few here. However, I read through every comment on this video to find out where the "RACIST" comments are, and the only racist comments are coming from you. As a matter of fact, you are the ONLY person who has commented here who has even mentioned their skin color or ethnicity (twice). Hmmm... Oh and when you said "You folks" you were referring to whom exactly? Given the context I have to assume that you're talking about non-blacks (or even white folks). Then you immediately proceed to call them clowns for absolutely no reason? Tell me who is the racist again? "ELITIST, RACIST. ARROGANT IDIOT"?
@jimmizlove10 жыл бұрын
A man NICE TRY Sir! I appreciate your comments but you seem a bit naive. To say that 'a shed' is not a practice means you don't know the culture. That's what we (in the church community) call practicing - even in front of an audience. Also, if you feel offended by my description, then it must describe you. If one looks past the assumed reverse racist remarks, one would see fact. 'You people' refers to non-professional or non-musical individuals who don't know on what level this is (see examples). I am not trying to fuel racist fire, but I do recognize the new racism - even when it's concealed - and, am brave enough to call it out. I live in Germany and deal with this racism every day. Kudos to you for not seeing color and appreciating the true talent of these kids. I wish the rest of the world would follow suit. Now that my comment has sparked interest, I can gladly edit it...
@HuffManic10 жыл бұрын
Editing your comment just proves me right. If there was nothing wrong about what you said initially, there would have been no reason to change it. Brave people stand by their words. They don't change them because someone calls them out. Nonetheless you definitely did the right thing by editing out the hateful words. If you want to be technical, every time you play your instrument you are practicing. So I suppose you COULD say that's what this is. But no, I don't know the German church culture. I'm sorry you experience racism every day. But I am very interested to know about what this "new racism" is, and especially how to recognize it when it's concealed. Because it seems to me, judging by the way you originally wrote your first comment so hatefully, that you are searching for racism and finding it in places where it's not actually there. But please, enlighten me of your wisdom.
@jimmizlove10 жыл бұрын
A man Dude! Now you're being presumptuous as well as contradicting yourself! It is not your place to try and educate me. That implies that you consider yourself to be more intelligent than, or above me. And, to say that I'm not brave because I realise that I may have been offensive is TOTALLY disrespectful. Also, any intelligent person knows that wrong and right are decided by the status quo. I changed my comments because they was abrasive - not because they were wrong! The facts remain the same and I stand by them. I believe (given the data), that the comments to which I referred, were racially motivated. Also, when I wrote about 'shedding', it is the 'African-American' Church community to which I was referring - not the German. I looked at your site and again stand by my statement that you don't know the 'African-American' Church genre', and therefore the mechanics thereof. But, here's the real question: If I were not a brown Cherokee/Jamaican, would we even be having this conversation? Most of the choir ( which I founded), my current, and last 5 girlfriends, as well as my best friend for 30 years have all been of European descent. They all agree with me on this one. May I suggest to you that you find better use of your time.
@HuffManic10 жыл бұрын
jimmizlove Sigh... Well, you changed the original statement to which I responded. Kinda hard to debate over something that isn't there anymore, eh? You say the comment was "offensive" and "abrasive", but what it really was is just what I called it before. And I think that's why you changed it. I'm not sure why I am expected to know about your church culture. I already said that I do not. And I'm not sure how that's relevant. Also, I always find it entertaining when people say "find a better use of your time". lmfao!! You're here tooo!! So I could say the same back. My main question here, is exactly which comments on here do you think are racially motivated? I just looked through them all for the second time, and it's mostly praise. Where is the racism? It's easy to call me disrespectful when you edit and change all the horrible things that YOU said. Wonder if all those people that (you say) agree with you, saw your real comment, or the edited one. "I believe (given the data), that the comments to which I referred, were racially motivated." Show us these racist comments. Nobody reading could possibly have any idea which comments you're referring to, because the truth is, you have not addressed any comments in particular. You just essentially labeled every one who didn't think these kids were amazing a racist. And THAT is why I replied. I guess you want to think it has to do with your skin, but I assure you, skin color does not matter to me. It's the things that people do and say (before editing) that define who they are.

God I love you guys. So inspiring and makes me want to hit my drums again knowing that I could never get to that level but it's fun to try. I see some comments about race, I don't know why race always comes into it when people see our darker skinned brothers in these videos. If anything they do it way better and can really teach us about music. Just look at Motown and the great music that came out of Detroit Michigan. You just aint got no spunk if you aint got the funk. Great stuff guys. Peace.
