People who say... *"They all sound the same"*. The sound is one thing. But when it comes to music...it's not about the way they play something...but the feel behind it, the *"taste"* in a sense. Once you truly listen and feel the music...you can tell each of these drummers has an idividual style. They each have a different *"flavour"* of rhythm. Listen closely.

Hells yeah! Let me explain me, I am 65 years old, and have been a drummer since I was 5. This makes me an old school drummer, and on one hand, they all are holding their left hand incorrectly, but who cares? We were taught the marching mode of stick holding which the left hand holds the stick above the fingers. These kids kick ass, and nobody played drums like this when I was their age except Buddy or very few drummers who were almost as good as him. Buddy was the guy to beat! I am sure these guys will most likely work on either television bands or something equivalent. Good for them! Boys, you did good!

Jayson Huffman Never said 'the rhythms and accents' weren't good. I was just helping people understand the sticking patterns used. There are obviously other ones such as; KRLK, KKRL, RLKK, LRllK, Herta and Herta inversions and endless combos etc. But these are quite common 'Gospel sticking patterns' that I recognise in the video.

Is it fair to say that there is a whole new style of drumming among the young hip hop crowd? First of all let me say that I LOVE IT!!! But I'm just not all that familiar with it. I'm an old school rock drummer but these kids are blowing my mind. Their hand speed is off the friggin charts. Few people could play like this on the old school big classic rock drum kits because the larger drums (a) don't have the rebound of the smaller tightly tuned hip hop kits and (b) the older drums are literally spaced so much farther apart. I'm seeing more and more of this "type" of drumming and the fact that high schoolers are playing like this is amazing. It's so cool to see young people keeping the instrument alive. I wonder (and worry) if we have enough up and coming guitar players, bassists, keys players and so on. I hope so. What should we call this type of playing? I think it goes beyond hip hop. Is it "Shredding" ...to take a term from the old school guitar shredders. I hope that's not corny to say but there has to be a name for it.

Kinda was expecting them the be a tad more creative and not about hey who has the fastest hands here.. Like those guys are by all means talented but not matching up with the drummers talents. Gosh I didn't know people disliked opinions....
@AustinGarrett109 жыл бұрын
Thomas Edison The point isn't to show how good they are. The point of the video is a DRUM shed. Not a band shred. They are there to lay down a track and riff for the drummers to play over. This wasn't about the bassist or pianist. It was about the chicago drummers.
@markkreuzer70329 жыл бұрын
These kids are really good players for high school kids, and well on their way to becoming great drummers! Yes the gospel chops thing can get a little old but if you are a drummer it is very useful, though in my opinion only part of what a drummer should have in his bag. As these kids go on in their drumming career they will learn that there is more to soloing then 32nd note linear fills at 70 bpm and will start trying different styles and techniques. The coolest thing about this is the atmosphere that they are in. Taking turns and feeding off of each others vibes is an awesome way to get really good at anything. Keep it up drummers!
