Stoeger Model 2000 Shotgun manufactured by what was known as Vursan Arms and available from guncity (www.guncity.co.nz). Semi automatic inertia recoil action, 4 round tube magazine + 1 chambered, sling swivels, ventilated butt pad, red bar front sight, sturdy synthetic stock with cavity for mercury recoil reducer. The Stoeger is the only shotgun licensed to use inertia recoil system other than Benelli and Franchi shotguns.

I've put very few rounds through this shotgun so I don't have enough experience to say how long it will last. All I can say is that there are very few moving parts and so long as the shotgun is lubed properly I can't imagine much could go wrong with it. It is a very simple, solid design that should keep plugging along and if cared for I would think it would hold up well over the years. Can't guarantee anything though. A single shot is always going to be more reliable - less moving parts.

I'll put it this way - in my opinion this shotgun is built solid and there are so few moving parts I can't imagine anything going wrong with it mechanically without some sort of abuse. I would have no issue buying one. If it did have a problem I'd claim warranty.

cheers, glad you all found the vid useful. 26" barrel. As for stock I've always liked the look of black guns so I tend to prefer synthetic. Also a bonus is the weight reduction and durability against wear and tear. I can understand why some people love the quality appearance of a wood stock though. In the end it's up to you.

for those of you looking for a cheap auto loading shotgun: The Stoeger M2000 is the best deal. I know reviews say that they have had problems with them, but if you clean off the grease on the mag tube and cycle the action for awhile without ammo, you shouldnt have problems. THE ONLY thing i had was, if you get a coating on it, remove and put back on the barrel and REALLY make sure the barrel is tightened down because the coating gets in between the reciever and barrel

I have a Stoeger 2000 which I bought new for around $350 USD back in 2004. I don't know if this is still true, but at the time they required a break-in of 100 rounds or so, preferably using the heaviest load available. At any rate, I've fired thousands of rounds through it since break-in and the gun is exactly 100% reliable with every load of sufficient weight. No malfunctions of any sort, ever. And this is with an admittedly "relaxed" cleaning schedule. Try that with a gas-auto!

@@costelpodaru1877 In principle it's a simple as clicking the part on the schematic. The problem is the distributors I know are in the US, and thanks to DFARS we can't export gun parts. Can't you find a European distributor? Stoeger worldwide? They probably would even sell parts direct if you could find out who to ask.

The recoil doesn't hurt if you hold the gun correctly. You need to keep the butt off any pointy shoulder bones and I've found inching the butt toward my bicep works for me. You could also try moving the butt further in toward your chest.

It will cycle loads 28 gram loads or greater. Target/orchard ammo is typically right on the 28 gram/1oz weight limit although there will probably be some very light target loads with less weight. Stoeger recommend first firing through between 100-200 rounds of high power shells to limber up the action before shooting the target loads.

Not a bad gun for the money. One can be had for about $350 here in the U.S. Good fit and finish and easy to clean. I bought one for my son(his first auto) this year and he loves it. Wish I'd gotten the nylon stock instead of wood though.

No the bolt is locked so it can't just blow back like a blow back action. When the gun recoils it compresses a spring between the bolt and carrier. The carrier is then thrown back by that spring unlocking the bolt. The spring rather than a rod (rod as on a gas piston system) throws back the carrier.

i've got it also, 2 of my roommates and i went shooting on Saturday (9/5/09). put 250 shells thru, a combination of slugs, buck shot, waterfowl, and game loads. failed to cycle less than 5 of those shells. at the end of the day, the only thing to worry about was our shoulders.

The manufacturers don't claim it will. Minimum load = 1 ounce. It is perhaps possible that after an extended break in it may be able to cycle those lighter loads. I don't have the experience to say it would though.
@grannman
@grannman 15 жыл бұрын
As I had no plans to shoot light loads I didn't do any break in. Those that want to get to shooting lighter target loads as fast as possible will be interested though. As for Stoeger, they recommend anywhere from 100-200 rounds of heavy load for break in.

I've never held or fired the Franchi semi auto so can't say how they compare. As for as value for money I'd rate the Stoeger at the top. They are well built and durable. I'm the type that wants to pay less for something which does the job just the same, therefore the cheaper Stoeger appeals.

I have a stoeger model 2000 with 26 in barrel and in the Max 4 camo, and it hasn't skipped a beat! Make sure to take the heavy machine grease off of the magazine tube/ recoil spring. The only problem I have, and I have another friend with a m2000 who has the problem too, is that it beats the shit out of your cheek after awhile. My cheek swelled, and I've got a bruise now, and I don't bruise easily. Great gun!

@SuperBearsfan4life The curved washer is meant to be curved in order to keep enough tension. From what I remember with this shotgun you put the flat washer in the forearm first followed by the curved washer with its curve pointing out of the forearm. Really it doesn't matter what orientation you put them in but I'd put the flat washer into the forearm first followed by the curved washer. Cheers.

You must be new to shotguns. The ribs you see on top of the receiver and the raised rib that extends down the top of the barrel to the front bead site are your sights for sporting use. Reflex sights can be attached via the receiver dovetail if desired.

I've seen Dragunovs sold with silencers and I could put one on if I wanted but I want to keep this Dragunov stock standard, an untouched example. It's always good to have the silencer option though. Yeap silencers are freely available, no red tape to go through. That's the way it should be :-)

yes it will. The manufacturers say this gun will cycle any load 28 grams (1 ounce) or greater once broken in. I don't think there are any factory 12 gauge loads lighter than 1 ounce or 28 grams. The remington gunclub target loads are 1 ounce and up.

That's unacceptable and sounds like the gun store is trotting out complete garbage to me. Any gun shop that values its customers would exchange the entire shotgun in a heartbeat. Whoever is dealing with the store needs to assertive on this matter.

Mate barrels are tough things. Your barrel bulged out over halfway along it's length which is what happened to a friend of mine after some shoddy ammo misfired and left some wad or some other obstruction in the barrel without him realising. He loaded in another round and boom... Unless you check the barrel every time you fire you can't really guarantee the barrel was clear when you fired that shot. I really doubt that sort of damage is going to be the shotgun's fault.

The shotgun cannot be fitted with a free standing pistol grip, magazine greater than 7 shells, flash suppressor or folding/telescopic butt, but everyone is free to own silencers, there is no regulation on them. If you do want to do any of the above things you need a military (e-cat) license. With that license you can do pretty much whatever you want with the shotgun except make it full auto or under 30 inches in overall length (anything shorter requires pistol license).

@banshee714SH couldn't tell you definitively. Since this was a test gun I had to send it back after testing. From what I've read I'd probably only use steel on cylinder and imp. cyl. Any tighter choke and it might be best to buy an aftermarket steel rated choke. A choke that will fit a Benelli will also fit the Stoeger from what I've read.

In theory the inertia recoil system will produce higher velocities due to no bleeding off of expanding gases but in practical application I seriously doubt it would be very significant even noticeable. I havent shot a gas system shotgun so can't compare recoil. I guess the water containers were approx 20 meters distant and kite about 30-50 meters when I first began shooting it. I think the load I was shooting was 36gr or greater, but I can't remember exactly.

Depends how large the flock of birds are. I've had a friend who has a 6 round capacity magazine who timed the landing of a flock of ducks perfectly and used his full magazine. In my opinion the hunter's shotgun magazine should not be limited for the simple reason of killing humanely. Having to reload when a struggling bird could otherwise be dispatched sooner isn't good.

@scottchkill nope, just let fly. If you can shoot target loads out of the box then breaking in is pointless. Otherwise yes, pounding some non-target ammo through will break it in to the point target loads cycle fine.

havent done any duck shooting since the paradise duck shoot a couple of months ago. I don't own this shotgun, I just promo'd it for guncity. I really doubt this gun could begin to approach worst gun ever. The machining is good, the action components are solid, big and built to take punishment. From my time with it I'd recommend it. Have to wonder about reviews saying it's the worst gun ever, must be an ulterior motive surely.

@passngas2 I know what you mean about the cheek seeing as on many shotguns you have to crush your head down onto the stock to get a good low sight. It is possible you could get a shim kit i.e. spacers that drop the comb of the stock. I've recently purchased a pump action escort that allowed me to do this and it really allows you to get your eye level without squashing your face against the stock.

All the people having issues with these guns makes me wonder if its the gun or people are not cleaning them good and then breaking them in. The Mossberg 930 is junk to some people because it has some of the same issues but if you clean it very well before shooting it and polish some of the parts with sand paper you can get the 930 to operate like it should with low and high brass.

@welseypipes2989 i had a similar problem that really annoyed me because the gun just wouldnt shoot shot after shot. The shells were being dented lightly. It was at the beginning of a round of sporting clays, and i thought i had the firing pin in wrong. my gun has a camo coating on it that makes the barrel fit really tightly, and as it turns out, the problem was the barrel wasnt tightened down quite enough. Once i tightened the barrel down, my gun functioned flawlessly the rest of the day.
