So funny story that happened to my dad at a powwow. We are eating lunch, he's still wearing his traditional wear and a lady walks up and says, I didn't know Indians ate hotdogs. My dad looks at me and says, that was a buffalo leg. She didn't know what to do after that. Like don't people get we are human of today and we even shop at stores for food and clothes? It's funny I can't help it

Most people with common sense understand that. I will tell you that in most public schools they hardly ever teach us about how Native Americans live today in fact they really only bring up native tribes when referencing colonial wars. I know a lot of people who still think that Native Americans act in a stereotypical way because that’s all they’ve been taught.

My Cherokee Dad sat stoically in his chair every night of my life. Mom always said we have to watch the westerns because that's what he likes. He never said anything. My Great grandmothers were featured on the cover of "The Book of Elders, The life stories & wisdom of great American Indians," published in 1994, and on it they were shown as these stoic grandma's, I later found out that they didn't like the photographer because of that picture, it was not how they usually took pictures together. Plus he would ask inappropriate questions and made a lot of ignorant statements. Anyway, our family photos show them all side by side smiling, laughing or singing together, there was hardly any of them looking all stern like that, and you can see the irritation in their eyes too. One of them even refused to speak English in front of him, and she only did that with people she didn't like. I miss them

It’s always great to watch your videos! You guys are awesome. ^u^ Also, I learned this just a couple days ago-a band called Sabaton writes songs based on historical events, and most of their songs feature stuff from WWI & WWII. W E L L They have a song called “Ghost in the Trenches” that is about an indigenous Canadian soldier in WWI who was… incredible beyond words. Francis Pegahmagabow was credited with 378 kills and is known as the deadliest sniper of WWI. Sabaton is an amazing metal band, and their music is epic. They also include more details about the subject matter in their lyric videos and their animated (story) videos. Anyway! I thought you’d like to know about it. I had no idea Pegahmagabow even existed before listening to that song. Fuck yeah, awesome history and native people getting the recognition they deserve.
