I'm still in shock about Schumacher being sack. I'm absolutely gutted as for the first time in years we've got a young very likeable guy which I was quite excited not necessarily for this season but for future seasons ahead. I still can't believe after doing all the hard work new players coming in a loan play going in and out. He gets sacked because of some disagreement between him and Walters. So far in the last 7 games stoke won 4 lost 3 that certainly doesn't warrant the sacking!! I'll back our new manager buy I'm really still not happy how this has happened and for once I thought we've got some stability at last which has been part of the problem!! I do worry that like you said if things go wrong early the fans will turn on him and perhaps Walters as well. As much as I've loved Walters as a player with stoke I wished he'd of walked and Schumacher stayed . I can't believe he's got the power to sack him. Anyway it's happened now so I really hope this terns out OK for stoke and we do still improve over time !!!

You've mentioned the crucial word there, Stability! Several of the managers you've already sacked at this level have since proven what they can do with stability at other clubs. I'm really surprised at the decision and the fact that the Stoke board have seemingly backed Walters over Schumacher. I'm less confident about your season than I was a week ago, I must admit. 👎

It was a surprise, but a nice surprise. His team selection has been all over the place. Baker and Laurent left, and midfielders have been brought in to replace them, great! But wait! He starts the game v Oxford with Gooch in the midfield, he's a fullback. He brings Komas in on lone from Liverpool. He was brilliant in the centre forward position v West Brom. He then moves him out to the wing. Then we lost all impetus. He had hit the post twice, and actually scored. It didn't make any sense. We have a very good squad which needs to be used to the best of their ability.

Fair enough. I'm personally surprised from the outside looking in and we often say be careful what you wish for. It'll be very interesting to see how this evening goes!👍

@@HonestFootballPodcast Shocking in the second half. Didn't close the ball down quick enough. That's either because they are bone idol or just not fit enough. Either way it's pretty awful. Again they played Komas out wide when his best position is down the middle. The next week is very important for the new manager, he needs to learn about his new players quickly. What does concern mean is! The likes of Ryan Shawcross should know the players well enough to give the new manager the help he would need, given he's only been in the building a couple of days. His post match interview would suggest he learns pretty quickly. So we will see. It is thoroughly depressing being a Stoke City fan at the moment. It's a club with all the financial clout it needs to be a force in this division and the Premier league, but here we are struggling to get away from the bottom half of the Championship. Everything is in place at the club for it to succeed. It's difficult to understand what the actual problem is. Not every manager is bad. Sometimes the place feels cursed. I think the team lacks a bit of steel. They soon drop their heads if things turn against them. They also don't use the ball fast enough. Sometimes a pass needs to go from a to c , and to cut out b, but they make the extra pass when it's totally unnecessary. It's a long season and the club chose to go a different way. The next three or four games should tell us more about the future of our club going forward. I sincerely hope it comes good. There is a lot of fed up supporters who are really and truly sick of it

Have to say now the shock has subsided, Im still saying "WTF?" you did highlight the 4 in 6 home games coming up and a real opportunity to pick up a decent amount of points, but im just... well underwhelmed. I didnt think that Shumacer was going to see out his contract, but i didn;'t think his job was on the line. To do it so quickly and clinically, points towards a basket case scenario. No way would you give him pre season, transfer window, and let him start "steady" to then wait and give him one game after the international break unless you were bringing in an "elite" head coach. To then bring in an assistant from Norwich (no offence my east coast friends), is just bonkers. Pie in the sky I know, but say we unveiled a Graham Potter or a David Moyes et al then I could understand.... we haven't. There has to be balls on the line, and my fear is, every manager that has been sent packing since relegation, has almost unanimously been waved off with gusto. Steven hasn't, and I come back to the "WTF?"

It should also be said on your last point too, that a lot of those managers have then gone and taken other clubs past Stoke in the Championship table afterwards. I really thought this one was the right fit for you and am really surprised by the almost 50/50 reaction to it from fans. It's going to be a very interesting season for your club now!
