It's heartbreaking what's happened to this city . I used to love going up Hanley in my younger days for shopping and nightlife. I went to Hanley for the first time in 3 years a couple of months ago and it was just a shell . It could be a great place again if the money was there and a decent council . Younger people would rather go to Manchester, London and Liverpool. They are building lots of student accommodation in Newcastle and Stoke but those students aren't going to be spending their money in the area , there's nothing for them . I remember the nightlife being so busy the police were parked up by the HSBC bank area just incase anything kicked off. There is next to no nightlife now . Sad sad times

It just looks a shit hole doesn’t it, who in there right mind would want to invest in Hanley, the councillors past and present have a lot to answer for, will it ever recover?

This makes me so sad to see the state of Stoke-On-Trent. I grew up in Leek with family in Stoke. I shopped regularly in Hanley. I have lived in CA USA for forty years now. I came across your blog and it makes me so sad. I was telling my husband that I don’t remember ever seeing garbage on the streets. So sad!

It blows me away how many ex stoke folks live in the USA on my channel I wish I was one of them instead of been trapped in this hell hole.

@@DJMtv1938 I do love my life here in Rocklin CA but I still miss my home town of Leek and Stoke. I watch your channel regularly. We visited Hanley 4 years ago. We were home celebrating my Dads 90th Birthday. It wasn’t too bad then, but we only visited the town center.

Im surprised they have some trees with lights on considering they are on the verge of bankruptsy. £7 for a hot chocolate or hotdog at winter druggy land, geez. This city could do with more manufacturing businesses more than a coffee. 22:14 Even the pigeons have flown to other cities and towns for more food opportunities.

I don't visit Hanley that often but your footage shows an increased number of boarded up premises suffering from window damage including the old town hall, potentially making them unsecure and prone to arson. 😮

Hanley used to be a lovely day out Debenhams, Lewis's,Brat and Dykes have coffee catch up with friends for years labour has wasted money shamelessly infact 2023 returned unspent money back to government but who are these council employers no qualifications what so ever Stoke has been on the decline because they have not got a clue and it will go on and on same it's run by who you not what you have to offer to improve it but sadly Stoke will never survive never get back to being an attraction to shoppers or visitors
