You want the best fresh water fishing in the world...Come to my great State of Michigan and fish the Great Lakes. You'd think you were on the Ocean, but Oceans aren't as dangerous. All fishing is awesome, however, being lucky enough to grow up in Michigan has spoiled me.

Largemouth (when you can get them to bite are bigger in the winter while they feed less often they still feed and have a slower metabolism which keeps them chunky. Fishing slow is very key like fishing spot in the summer under a full moon. I've lived half my life in Michigan until 18 and the last 18 years in Alabama and I can say without a doubt the bass fishing in Alabama is far better than Michigan overall not that there aren't great places in michigan especially up north and on the canadian side near places like Point Pelee. Now Pike, Muskie,walleye etc.. are amazing in the great lakes but Lake Guntersville and Lake Wheeler (near the dam especially) which are both approximately 45 mins away from have the best Largemouth/Smallmouth and spotted bass i've ever caught and oh I can't foget Lake Eufaula to to the south. All of these lakes have produced monsters and some Records. I actually live on the biggest Man Made Lake in The U.S. Smith lake built in the mid 50's it's absolutely huge it overflowed the engineers estimates and covers 3 counties with over 550 miles of shoreline,The Bassmaster tournament trail fish it up in the Jasper part of the lake. There's a huge fishing tournament about to happen very shortly. My house is on the lake at Hames Marina and I know a few pros that are from my town like gerald Swindle and Shawn Striker and i've been noticing all the sponsored boats letting in the water starting to scout spots for the tournament. I just fish the local wildcat tournament circuit. Bummer you didn't get that fish weighed correctly but its documented on KZbin forever so you're good ;) but yeah like mentioned in other comments never hold a fish that size vertically especially with that lip bend. Great video beautiful fish. I'm gonna subscribe now.

What an epic trip! I was reading about some of Paul's tournament accomplishments, throwing big baits. Looking back, moving to Kelseyville was a great career move. (What are the odds?) Kelseyville should give him the key to the ..ur..town or a statue like "Rocky" but with Paul hoisting a big fat bass over head. "Kelseyvilles favorite son!" Legendary status fo sho! Great Stuff! All three of you. Howz about a "Tour of the Mother Lode Lakes"???$

I hate how some people don't care about the bass's health and will just suffocate fish in the livewell for a "cool" thumbnail. You guys realize every damn lake in the world would be as good as clear lake if people properly handled the bass that they catch, especially the big ones since they pass on the strongest genes and have largest number of offspring. Smh, this is why the average bass at clear lake is shrinking is size dramatically the past 3 years.
@timberhunter922
@timberhunter922 7 жыл бұрын
You would maybe have a point about the livewells if it was in the peak of summer with poor oxygen levels and poor livewell management. The fish in this video will be unaffected. Every lake goes through cycles regardless of fishing pressure. I.E. Falcon, Toledo Bend, Guntersville, etc. I think a bigger concern for us should be the fairweather Billy Bob's that only fish in the spring keeping growing 5 pounders to eat.
@westcoastfishing2768
@westcoastfishing2768 7 жыл бұрын
timberhunter922 Clear lake always has low oxygen levels (not drastically just lower then most lakes on average) because it's shallow with lots of vegetation. That's not the point though, Live wells in general are meant to keep fish "alive" but not "healthy." Reason I point this out is because in most tournaments you can't bring back dead fish, sure they can be almost dead with no chance of survival but as long as the gills are moving its a legal fish and that's what they're meant for. My buddy just got a 2016 ranger bass boat and the live well works perfectly fine and filters out water every 5 minutes yet bass go belly up within 2 hours so he doesn't fuck with that shit anymore. In my opinion all lakes could have amazing fishing but because so many people don't care about this type of stuff nothing will ever change. There are lakes by me where just 10 years ago the average bass went from 3-6 pounds average to 1-3 pounds on average. What have I noticed in the past 10 years? An over flooding of bass fisherman and social media making people want to hold onto their fish as long as possible so they can show off with "epic" pictures. Bass fishing has turned into a show off competition
@westcoastfishing2768
@westcoastfishing2768 7 жыл бұрын
timberhunter922 But like you said I know what you mean by the "fairweather Billy Bob's" keeping 5 pounders during the spring. (We have them here in SD) But there is a lot more damage being done by people who don't think they're doing anything wrong. And it's those people who will have a hissy fit if you try give them helpful advice.
@timberhunter922
@timberhunter922 7 жыл бұрын
I fish tournaments and hold on to fish for sometimes 8 hours at a time. When I release them they are still healthy and frisky. One of the biggest problems is people not understanding how their livewells work. This includes leaving recirculators on while fishing (which are meant to be on when your boat is running on plane), and not turning their pumps on to bring fresh oxygenated water into the livewells and putting the old water out. I'm not trying to insult your friend but if the bass are going belly up in 2 hours he is not managing his livewells correctly. Depending on depth those fish came out of they could also be going belly up because their swim bladder needs to be fizzed. As for your local lakes, that very well may be the case. But big fish also get harder to catch from high fishing pressure and it could be the natural cycle of the lake. I agree with you though, improper fish handling is a sure contributor.
@westcoastfishing2768
@westcoastfishing2768 7 жыл бұрын
timberhunter922 Your probably right he might not have the well set properly. I know that the pump is working constantly but that means that a lot of people around here don't have there wells set right because literally almost everyone I see who dumps there fish off at the loading dock to show everybody, the bass don't swim off very well... Then again I live in SoCal and majority of the bass fisherman here are ignorant jackasses who have money but don't know what the hell they're doing. I'm not disagreeing with you in any way.

looool i like how you say the day before was spotted bass then the ones you caught here are largemouth yet they look exactly the same you did nolt catch a world record spotted you caught medium sized largemouth

11 pound largemouth is not medium, plus it wasn't a largemouth. I think these guys might know a little more than you do too, so there's no need to go and criticize their fishing when they just went and did in three days what you will never do in a lifetime.

There isn't a whole lot of visible difference between spotted and largemouth. Obviously you have no idea what you're talking about. Visit google. Check out the difference between the 2 species. I would tell you all the reasons you're wrong, but better you read for yourself. You're welcome.

They don't even remotely resemble each other. I'd start educating yourself before you make comments like this.
