More Nerd talk: love it. I studiet organic agriculture for tropics and sub-tropics, my biggest take a way is soil sience and medicinal plants. Thees two topics combined with the navigation and map skill will bring everything together. For training: look up a plant in your area that gives you survival benefits, study the prefered habitat of that plant, find that habitat on your map due to soil sience, alivation and water needs of the plant. Then identify thees aereas on the Map, make a excursion to thees points and see if can find thees pland in that area. Harvest the plant and at home make the processing for eg. trying. If you do that withe some plants you will get experty knowledge of how to dive very deep into map reading and backround information. The Pop Graphik of the map will show you were what growes and what animales are to expect in thar area. I am German, sorry for the spelling, DeinStamm

I really like the way you explain this stuff. I thought I had land nav figured out, then I because a truck driver and the GPS does it all. I'm getting back into it though. Thank you.

Oh ja, soil sience also gives you a very big atvantege in tracking due the knowlege how your soil is akting with water. So very good stuf to know the earth under your feet.
