That's just a primitive Swedish/ Finnish (or watch ever) fire(stick/branch/log) in a very simple way...what is the INSANE in that? Is this a channel for kids(KIDS)? ....U just lost me as a sub👎
@maurice3464 Жыл бұрын
The Swiss requires a bit to drill a few holes. Where I am in agreement is who is going to carry a metal bucket? So just sand out the fire, you’ll still get multiple Cooks from it..

I agree, it's just a simple Swedish log. But Stoker didn't claim anything else. He's pointing out that one can be used multiple times. No one ever posts that. Some people are not quick-witted enough to figure out that it can be used over and over. I believe this video is for them.

With a lid a steel bucket can capture (soft wood) charcoal to be pulverized. Add Sulfer & Ortho Stump Remover (per measurement ratios). And voila you've made Black Powder to refill spent 12 ga shells. Just replace primers & improvise waddings.

Up here in the North Eastern U.S. I usually cook after getting done shooting at my local clubs winter trap league on an old King wood stove. The problem is it only has so much surface area. One big pot or 2 smaller ones. This year I plan on using the King and 1 or 2 Swedish log stoves. I will drill instead of split so I can regulate heat. One down the middle and four from the sides that I will plug if needed to reduce heat, if necessary. I am usually feeding 6 to 15 hungry and cold people. I plan on starting with a three foot diameter log to make it through the ten week season. Let you know how it works out. Thanks for all you do!!

Chilli- either way but usually with beans. I'm an oatmeal, cream of wheat, or grits. Cream of wheat and grits need a little more fuss than oatmeal. Grits with butter, cheese, salt and pepper can not be beat! The log does provide longevity, but only practical for a base camp, and only practical with seasoned wood.

Hey Devil Dog, Great videos, great content. Saw a KZbin video where this guy in the snow in Canada would stay in a wall tent and burn a Swedish torch out side the tent and cook on it then put a pipe down in between the quartered log that was wired together. He had the pipe bent so it would go into the tent ant the pipe would carry the heat into the tent. Worked well for him. I grew up on oatmeal, grits, and cream of wheat. Home made chili with meat and beans, and well done steak. Now it is home made chili with meat and beans with cornbread baked in the 12” Dutch oven. Keep the videos coming. So much good gouge, and info. Semper fi Devil Dog

Well done! Having a large bucket can be quite an advantage. This would be an advantage for someone with limited mobility or injured. Most of us have seen the torch or rocket stove before. Thanks!

Fantastic idea! Love it, it seemed to work great! But who can carry a five gallon bucket in their backpack?! However, if one were to carry and TWO gallon metal bucket (that would fit into my M.OL.L.E. pack) and chose logs of an appropriate thickness, one would get plenty of burns for a number of days, I would think? Might be more practical and just the ticket!

I wonder if this could be extended even further if you had two trash cans. One used as you did to extinguish the fire. The other with a ‘’metered” hole in the top to both regulate(to a small extent) the burn, but more importantly to concentrate the flames to the desired purpose. The other to inlet combustion air at a low point(possibly more than one
@srwisner Жыл бұрын
Also might give a more even burn, or not matter if it burns even as long as it burns, since the heat would be confined to the top hole. And of course I realize now my previous comment didn’t mention the rocket stove effect
