The minute that trailer is moved, & the brakes are applied on the truck, the trailer tongue will slam against the truck's bumper & the trailer will sway back & forth also, this method would only get you a few blocks away

Seems like the electric access also makes it much easier. Maybe a hidden disconnect somewhere, so even if they plug it in to their own truck it still won't give them power to use the jacks? Just a thought. Anyone determined enough will find a way, but the easier targets are the ones that are usually first to go. Sorry you had to deal with that BS.

That's why I switched to a 5R and switched to a Goosebox. No kingpin. It's a lot more work to hook up! You need access to the landing gear to raise it enough to drop on the ball, safety chains won't help. I also have a kill switch for the Landing gear so if they have a universal key for the control panel they can't move the landing gear. Yes it's a PITA but I want it to be for people that want my rig they better want it bad enough to figure it out. Showing people how this works helps the bad people out. The Internet YT, Facebook etc is a great way for criminals to learn unfortunately.

Thanks for the info and video. Mine was just stolen end of July out of our gated community parking area (no cameras). It was recovered, (it got a parking ticket where they left it in a neighborhood 5 miles away) after insurance declared total loss, not sure i want it back anyway. My main WTF was broad daylight from a parking area where people constantly drive by, I drive by, I walk the dog by it twice a day. How do they know me or someone that knows me wasn't going to drive by. ( IMO when good people do nothing only emboldens thieves) Of course no one saw nuffin. As far as I can tell, it was only stolen so they could take their time going through the inside. Only damage was the door lock that looked like they used a screwdriver to open it. AGM Batteries were still there, fuse box looked broken for some reason, I had a couple of power packs, one to jump the truck battery and another to run cpap machine were the only things missing. Actually, they were the only things worth taking. So my plan is bigger lock (like the one you showed), lock the chains ( but can't they still bring their own?) And a wheel lock, like parking enforcement uses. And replace the door locks.

I find it best to remove one side of the tires .. I have a large boat trailer and I take the drivers side 3 wheels off and I also have locking lug nuts on them too so the thief couldn’t unbolt only tire to make it work in their favor. I know it’s not practical, I only do it if I’m not gonna use the boat for a while or if I’m out of town

Sorry it happened to you. I lost my utility trailer with a hardened steel chain locked through wheel and around axle plus heavy duty hitch lock. Nothing left right from my vacation property driveway. Still upset about it 2 years later! Never had an issue at property in 25 years before trailer was stolen. Trailer has never turned up again either.

WOW,, that cameras at that place SUCK.. one or two is not enough.. something out by the gate down low to get license plate info out by the gate.. and quite out of focus.. I do not have the hooks on my chain as the had to lengthen them.. added a couple links and got a chain coupler.. might need to move it to the truck so not usable on trailer.. if i get a storage place will be check out cameras.. how many where located, the view etc. too bad you did not have a ring on the front to alert..

If they use another chain it would be possible to connect to the existing one, even if there was no chain.

Nice tongue lock but heavy duty chain lock on each set of wheels is the only way; there are too many way to tow a trailer with tongue lock!

What do you do if you rented RV out for 3 days and then renter doesn't return it? It happened to be. They've had it over 6 months and they refuse to tell me where its located so I can go get it. I did a stolen report but they haven't done much about finding the couple who have it. I've given the addresses and phone numbers of the couple but they haven't done anything. What should I do? Anyone got any advise? HELP!

@@billredding2000 Actually, knowing it was stolen also allows for more opportunities to identify the thieves by assessing that crime scene. But maybe cops aren't that smart.
@billredding2000
@billredding2000 Жыл бұрын
@@martyh4777 Well, rememeber that it's been said many times over the years -- even by police chiefs and recruiters -- that police work is not for the best/brightest, as they wouldn't be happy in that field. So I'm guessing a "medium level" of intelligence is best? ;-) Still, it's also been said that the police can make LOTS of mistakes in solving a crime, but a criminal only needs to make ONE mistake to get caught. Plus, the police often DO eventually find the "suspect," even if it takes a while. EXCEPT for certain cases (some of them high-profile) where they don't even have a "clue" (see what I did there). However, I'd think that detective would be a bit smarter than the average street-cop. I usually rent U-Haul trailers when I move...but when I park at hotels for the night, I AM concerned about theft given the amount of criminals out there, especially since many hotels are located in sketchy parts of town. Or maybe they'll just steal my truck's catalytic converter instead... -- BR

You missed the point! Nothing is unbreachable. However, thief’s are statistically lazy and when looking for a mark, will typically look for the easiest score. The Fort Knox is just a piece of the “Make it as hard as possible” puzzle.

Apple tracking device $25 DUH
@that.schamp
@that.schamp 20 күн бұрын
The Apple AirTag and Tile type devices require a phone running the app nearby to report the location. They can also be found with a simple bluetooth scanner. Better than nothing, but quite limited. You really need a cellular or satellite based tracker embedded in the RV somewhere. You have to manage the battery, but the batteries can last quite a while. These trackers can also be scanned down, but they only report the location periodically, so it's more difficult.
