Fixed the switch on my Timmy. hasn't worked in years. Switch didn't "click" at all...just squishy. Opened the switch and two of the three contacts inside were standing on end. cleaned them up put it back together and works fine now. Many Thanks!

Great video! I have one of these attached to a ribbon cable and the thought of desoldering and trying to figure out which cable goes to where is daunting. Much easier to try and clean it first.

Great video man. I was over in Nashville on vacation and bought a pedal from the Gibson Garage and the switch was acting strange like every 2 in 5 stomps the pedal would not fully come on. I live in Scotland so couldn't exactly take it back to the Garage that easily. Opened up the switch and man was it caked in grease. Pedal works perfectly now. Sounds much better too.

This works! Amazing video and I am so relieved to have my pedal fixed. That said I do recommend first cleaning this by spraying contact cleaner from the top like others have described in comments below. At least try it, then worst case you can do the whole disassembly. There is a lot of room for error when you get to the spring loaded parts and it did not go as easily for me as the video makes it look. But it's doable. Thanks again!

Hey this worked a treat thanks for sharing. For those struggling to bend the tabs when putting it together just use a pair of nose pliers to squeeze them down once you have everything in place.

Here's a tip for everyone...when putting the switch back onto the blue base, bend the locking tabs before attaching (slightly).....trying to bend them when it's in place may not work as well...i am talking from experience!

Thanks for the tip. Followed your suggestions on my Wampler Euphoria. A little more complex on my pedal. It was necessary to remove the complete circuit board to gain access to the switch. Not difficult to do with care. The contacts in the switch were exactly as you said in the video. It works fine again now.

@philvanduyn10 жыл бұрын
Good video. Before you take everything apart, you can spray contact cleaner around the switch and let gravity take the fluid into the switch. Click it off and on while its wet and you should be good to go. Do the same with any adjustment controls (twist a few times while wet) and input and output jacks (insert jack in and out while wet) and you can probably avoid disassembly.

Thanks this helps alot, I was getting anxiety about fixing my pedals. This looks easier than fixing the board mounted momentary switch contacts on an DigiTech RP6. Those little contacts are very fragile and and taking them apart is a nightmare. I was tempted to replace them with arcade buttons lol.

Is there any way to adjust the on/off pressure sensitivity? A couple of my pedals have a hard click when you engage or disengage them, and I'd like them to not do that since it makes transitions less smooth. Thanks.

HI, I dont know if the cleaning could fix my little problem; I need sometimes to press twice to engage the effect , what to do? thankx
@gvtshorts20247 жыл бұрын
+roll itkvah This is exactly what was wrong with mine and this fixed it. I just tried it an hour ago. It's harder to pry open the housing thatn it look in the video. Make sure you get the precision screwdriver on the same angle as on the video. Line up the screwdriver blade with one of the little wings of the clasp and force the blade under the clasp and then it will bend up easy. after you clean all the grease off the contact parts you'll need a pair of nose pliers to tighten the clasps, just squeeze from both sides of the housing

+Temple MKE Just replace the switch. I appreciate the video but it's tough to re-bend the tabs on cheap switches so they stay together. If you know how to de-solder a really good quality switch is $10-15, takes 5 minutes to install.

This is practically a switch refurbushing. It's a "normal" thing that those 3pdt will start to malfunction in about a year of use (like the electro Harmonix type), the are bad quality and are going to fail again.
