I don't pretend to understand how much of a pressure you're going through right now. Playing for 4-6 hrs straight in this kind of tournament, preparing for the next rounds, recovering from losses and even draws when you could have won and still constantly delivering a great content to your audience is really tough. It's your choice not to get as much rest as you probably need, and I'm here not to judge. As a part of your huge fans community I can only say that I really appreciate what you're doing because I absolutely love your content. You're giving your fans so much inspiration and positive energy even though it's really tough sometimes. Your videos are always a source of motivation (for me and a good part of your audience at least), and I'm really greatful for what you're doing. Unlike many other content creators out there, you're so passionate about this game and about making content that it is truly hard to understand how you're handling that all by yourself. I've looked through a few hundreds of comments under your previous recap and wanted to let you know that the absolute majority of your audience is rooting for you and has a huge respect for you and your content. It's only a matter of pressure that you're going through that you're even noticing some mean comments (their number is really incomparable with the number of positive ones), but I absolutely get your feelings. Always remember that we love you and don't let anyone upset you. You're a greate player, content creator and person. We're rooting for you at this tournament (and most of us for you only) and at many others. Good luck and have fun in next rounds :)

Your content is much appreciated and I have a lot of respect for you thanking your wife being supportive. Very admirable.

It can be so tempting to fixate on the negative comments, but Hikaru please don't let the vocal minority of haters bother you. It's so admirable how much you have grown as a person and become such a fantastic sportsman, in addition to being one of the very best players in the world. As someone who used to be (inwardly) somewhat critical of you for the erratic sportsmanship of your youth, know that your growth as a person has 100% won me over as a fan, and I think anyone who has failed to make a similar journey as you have grown has failed in both rationality and empathy. That's on them, you've done your part admirably and it's so obvious to the rest of us what a great dude you've become. Cheers Hikaru, keep up the awesome work and content man we're rooting for you and Fabi as the two best all-around excellent ambassadors of top level chess from the USA.

In Spanish we have a saying that says: "behind every great man there is a great woman who supports him." It is incredible how having the luxury of enjoying the analysis of a possible world champion for free and from the comfort of our homes and treating him harshly after a defeat, no one is perfect, we are all human and have feelings, even the super GMs. We must think before offending a person.
@Zoomo26978 ай бұрын
"The proverb “Behind every great man there is a great woman” has become popular during the 60s and 70s in the United States after the femininity emerged as a movement in literature and social sciences. It was first used by a newspaper, The Port Arthur News, in its publication of February 1946 in a report on sports. “As he received his trophy, the plucky quarterback unfolded the story of how he ‘came back’. He said, ‘They say behind every great man there’s a woman. While I’m not a great man, there’s a great woman behind me" In Spain and throughout the world.

The haters may be louder sometimes but please remember that us happy fans greatly outnumber them. And the fact that you make any number of people happy is all that matters. Haters gonna hate, but you don’t fight hate with hate. You fight it with aggressive love and positivity! We genuinely love what you’re doing, Hikaru. Keep it up!

It boggles my mind that anyone gave you a hard time yesterday. You rock!! Not only amazing content, but incredible games and even more incredible insights into chess. I've gotten better just by watching your recaps. Can't thank you enough!!! Please ignore the haters. They are definitely in the minority!

Congrats on the win, many thanks for the great recap videos and also mad respect to you and your wife to keep on with such positive energy. I wish you all the best for the rest of the tournament. Unfortunately some make it a sport to be horrible on the internet, but there are many more supporting you. We are rooting for you 🎉🎉

Dont listen to the haters Hikaru, you are playing an incredible tournament. Listen to your inner voice while playing. Sometimes you overthink moves that would have been good. You got this, we believe in you!

Yeah! Well done Naka! I had to stop watching the game at move 37 and simply returned home to see how the game had ended. The "haters" or unfavorable comments don't matter. Trust your instincts and you have reason to, after a rocky start you haven't given up and are fighting. The truth is that I would very much like to see you Champion, because in my opinion you are the only Champion who could not be eclipsed by Carlsen, as happened to Ding Liren. And having said that without any malice, I'm sure that if Nepo won he would end up losing to Ding and the cycle would repeat itself. If you wins, it would be very good for Chess in general, Ding Liren would have time to recover, Carlsen would not have it so easy and Nepo would have time to work on his character, since he is literally "his worst enemy". So, Keep Fighting! Greetings from Argentina.

Not gonna lie Hikaru. You were winning and then you lost the advantage and I was like oh no. He has 7 minutes to Abasov's 25 He's gonna lose this. And I tuned out to go watch other things. I can't believe you still got the win. I will never lose belief again. I'm sad I missed the final part of the stream when you turned it around. Good win and I hope you keep going strong

OMGGG. Almost the same for me. It was like I was on the board. I was at work so the stream was still on but I was bummed out that he was losing. As soon as Abasov blundered and Hikaru took advantage I shouted lmaoooo.

Love the recaps, win lose or draw you’re here! Your insights and the fact you call the knight the horse and the rook the tower make me smile every time. Go well in the remainder of the candidates, you’ve become my favourite player since starting to watch these videos…

In the position 17:32 with the RBN and a pawn versus BBN, maybe black plans to sac the dark square bishop for the a pawn with two pawns for a rook. However, that could be very hard to win for white

Hikaru respectfully what are you doing looking at mean comments durring such a tournament? comments from literal NOBODYS affecting your mood, ignore all of us for the rest of the tournament, ignore GOOD and BAD comments.

I thought the same thing. It's one thing to record an analysis the day of the match, but reading the comments is another altogether. He would be way better off to hand over the video to his social media person and never look at it, at least until the tournament is over. It's easy to say he should just ignore the haters, but it's hard to not let it affect you at all. At the very least it's an unnecessary distraction.

Don't listen to the negativity - you've been such an inspiration to myself and many others in falling in love with chess, and your work ethic in sitting at the board for many hours at arguably the most difficult tournament and then making recaps, plus also doing prep on most days is astounding. Keep going and the vast majority of us are backing you and have your back!

I watched your stream for the very first time. Your frankness during recap is really surprising. It really shows how greatly you value audience in this channel. It gives mere mortals an opportunity to get a glimpse of what goes on in the brains of SuperGMs when they play high stakes games in candidates. The fact that this recap is coming right on the heels of the game (win or loss) being played is a big bonus too. Audience of this channel must consider themselves to be privileged people because you have chosen to be a dedicated streamer while being a top Super GM. Many in your shoes would not have bothered to stream in the first place. Hats off.

I just wanted to add my voice to the others about ignoring your haters. I'm a decent amateur (FM-strength) and I find the educational value of your recaps to be incredible. The fact that you do these after a tough and draining game is beyond impressive!
