I appreciate all of that 1st person footage. It really helps see what your level of skiing would look like from my perspective. I see you're often wedging your outside ski slightly. I see that in my own skiing. It's helpful to be able to make those comparisons. Even if it's not ideal, it lets me know that maybe that's not the big issue I tend to think it is for myself. Maybe it's really just a trick of the camera angles. I don't know. But, it is nice to see that same POV that I'm able to see myself.

@@StompItTutorials Sorry, I didn't mean that to come across as critiquing your skiing. I really enjoy your videos, and use your tips to try to improve my own skiing. Your drone shots, and follow shots are all great. But, I never have a drone overhead, or a camera guy chasing me. The only view I generally get of my own skiing is first person. I get to see what the tips of my skis are doing. So, I find it helpful when you include POV footage. It gives me something I can more directly compare to myself, and try to see what I need to work on.

I had to take my CARV out of my boots last season due to fit causing painful blisters. Tried heating and stretching the shell which worked a bit. Next option was to grind down the boots' plates, but I opted to just remove the CARV. Then found that the one had slipped in the boot which was probably why the feedback was a little off....Or so I think. Anyway, I was going to cancel my subscription for this year when low and behold there's a CARV2!!!!!! I ordered it right away a got a great deal of the unit and my subcription for one price! I thought that offer was righteous!!!!! Thanks for the review! There are many features I'm looking forward to, like the terrain. i ski in CO and PA....yes PA. Carv did not understand our flats, ice, and over peopling. I get the outside ski metrics are super important, but I'm an intermediate skier and hope that I can use this with an instructior and on my own. Now winter just needs to hurry up!

@@StompItTutorials Its stated on the FAQ on the website "We’ve built the latest Carv Ski:IQ system to be powered by Motion AI, which has allowed us to improve accuracy across the board. We’ve been able to make that retro-compatible with previous generations of the hardware, so you won’t miss out. As a result, pressure metrics will no longer be directly displayed as part of Ski:IQ. We had to take away pressure to make Carv 1 compatible with Ski:IQ Nevado (our most accurate system), and therefore as accurate as Carv 2." Honestly its a shame for people who will most probably give the old unit to a friend or something. And even worse for the people who will keep the original.

Conflicts of interest aside: What's the suggestion for an owner of the old footbed variants? Does the upgrade really make sense if the app seems to be getting the upgrade for everyone? I don't think the footbeds are perfect, but I just can't imagine that a gyroscope alone can really be more accurate. Good video otherwise, as always on this channel!

@@StompItTutorials Thx! Got an offer (like all other existing long time customers I guess) to get the 2 year subscription with free new hardware. I‘m curious if it’s possible to use both variants parallel, one boot footbed, the other one the updated device. Just to see differences. I guess that won’t be possible though. What would be possible I guess would be to use two phones to make a double check. One connected to CARV 1 the other phone to CARV 2. That would be super interesting to see the differences in calculation and results. You may have to use two seperate accounts though…

Good insight. However, we only saw you ski groomers. I was really looking forward to seeing how Carv coaches in the bumps and off piste as this was the feature I'd been waiting for! Also, I'm surprised that there isn't a second sensor needed for the other boot. The combination of the two could really give a complete picture, including outside ski pressure and all kinds of details about the transition phase... maybe even coaching park tricks and arial form. Perhaps Carv 3 would do that, or a software update this year might let someone use two sensors at once (if you're a ski school with $9k worth of Carv2 sensors lying around).

It was filmed in the late spring in Chile southern hemisphere and the freeriding was not good for it. It sure is a good idea to make a follow up video on that when we get some pow and bumps in the alps. There is one sensor per boot. I never use them for this but took them just in-case we would have to ski tour to find some freeride conditions that we did not do. They rip but with a less nice flex pattern due to the metal walk mode in the back making the shell bulge out instead of flex like a normal boot. If you look for a boot that can do it all they are great. I prefer to have two boots.

Sound quality is also top notch, Cardo includes JBL headphone inserts. LMFAO your microwave draws 1000 watts. USB-C is at most 20 volts. That means a USB-C microwave would need to draw FIFTY AMPS. That requires an AWG 6 wire, which is more than 4 milimeters in diameter - WIDER THAN THE USB-C PLUG ITSELF! The best USB-C can do is FIVE amps, or 100 watts.
