So-So-So MUCH RESPECT for Stepping! It’s phenomenal to watch. . . But the average person has NO IDEA how HARD it is as the claps are before the stepping plus, exactly as the Captain states, “BOTH have to be TIGHT + EVERYONE in UNISON!” I feel it should also be noted that this TEAM is working HARD outside in the heat & Stepping on CONCRETE vs a wood floor!! Whew😥!! You ladies & guy have MAD skills! From as far back as I can recall, I ALWAYS WANTED to learn Stepping. . . Although, yes, I’m white. . . And once was told that “. . .it’s disrespectful for a white person to step.” It makes me extremely happy to see a white girl + a guy on your Step team! Everyone is so respectful towards each other! I love 💗 SPIRIT & UNITY in DIVERSITY! You have gained a new follower! 😊

It’s interesting to see this dynamic of cheerleading. I have daughters in all star cheer and we stopped speaking/saying words a few years ago. Now it’s all stunt jump tumble and dance. I coached and used a little stomp and clap in my dance many years ago. It was very fitting. ❤

This is really called Stepping. It use to be separate from cheer and there was whole step competitions. This is not that new of a concept. And idk why call it cheerleading at all when barely any cheer techniques are used. This is mainly stepping with some cheer elements. SMH I hope at some point they get actual cheer skills but if they won’t just call it what it is a Step Team.

reminds me of us in color guard... jazz walks and runs and the different dances we have to do. People think its so much easier then it actually is. Same thing with cheer. Real cheer is not as easy as people think it is.

This brings me back to my old HS cheering days. Started off going to a suburban HS. I didn't get on to that squad but thought I knew what cheering looked like. then moved to and inner city (all black HD) and the experience was completely different. Instead of using gymnastics moves it was more of a step show with dance moves. Also, during halftime, the routines felt more like battles instead of just performances between the two squads. I learned to love and respect both forms of cheering.
