The bell is actually 5.25". I find mine to be exceptionally responsive and more of an open blow than most. Convinced me that I didn't really need a large-bore horn.

The "bell-flex" metal is supposed to be some kind of alloy containing titanium that puts more lows in the sound so that the player gets more feedback as opposed to projecting forward but not backward as much. Steve, you didn't say that the S3 was really easy to play (particularly in the upper register), which according to the manufacturer is supposed to be the claims to fame for the Stomvi S3 and the V-Raptor. I guess if that were true (rather than just marketing hype) you would have noticed it and mentioned it. Oh well. Anyway, Happy New Year Steve. Rock on! Dive, dive, dive.

I have not found any source that makes any claims at all about what "BELLFLEX" is or has in it, at all. After my S3 took a dive off the stand and got a dent in the bell bow, my repair tech - one of the best in town - when asked, replied that, if anything, the metal was perhaps a little softer-working than standard yellow brass. Where did you hear "titanium"? FWIW, it would also seem to me that Stomvi is probably not producing a whole new allow by themselves, so there's probably another source, just as there are for the sheet brass that horn manufacturers use. The only copper alloys that I know of that ever used any small amount of titanium are comparatively very hard metals.
