Absolutely gorgeous. I’m going to find a piece of furniture with carvings so I can give it a try. I’m 74 with health issues and a creative cottage is being built to make my furniture painting easier and more enjoyable. It 20x35 with large work surface overlooking the pool, a faux fireplace surround I’ll be using moulds on and painting. I also will have a full bathroom with shower accessible for my old lady friends who have walkers or wheelchairs. I guess part of it will be considered a lounge for us. We love your videos and plan to start painting when cottage is completed in time for my 75th birthday on November 6. We’re looking for furniture to have to work on. Keep entertaining we vintage ladies😃Thanks so much.

@@JonathonMarcMendesPaintedLove Jonathon: I don't know how I missed this one, it is a most valuable duo of techniques. It amazingly aligns with a 0roject I have, although mine includes a a real Italian Marble top. I have a French Pervential Coffee Table that my Parents bought back in 1959, a wood frame base, mostly legs, and a sort of cream and ivory color Marble top with a series of light Sienna Brown featherings of lines. I need your thoughts on something, if you have a moment. The marble needs to be buffed to return it to a shine, and it has a couple of circles, likely olive juice (vinegar) etches, "Martinis', or possibly, Pickle Juice from when I was a kid, lol. I had a thing for pickles and olives, and I do love a Dirty Martini! It's the base, I want to paint it a Soft Black, and I want it to have a light look of suede or linen texture. There's 2 points though, this table is absolutely gorgeous, I've never seen one that comes close to it's level of value, it literally is the quality of a Royal purchase. It is a Classic without overly ornate, a thick and heavy piece of marble. It requires a large man to lift it off the base. My Questions: 1. Do you think it a piece that I should restore rather than refinish? (I can inquire with an appraiser, if I can locate one ) 2. What paint and technique will result in the light texture I desire? (I just know, you will get the visual of an polished ivory marble, setting a top this light base of elegant legs, with that black suede finish. It is a Mid-Century yet understated Elegance, French flair. Delicious beauty. I thought about adding a bit of marble dust to the chalk 0aint, or even mixing my own. Anne Sloan is hard to get here, in rural Tennessee, an order only product and the shipping make it expensive. Not a problem if only getting 1 or 2, but to stock the brand would be an investment. I've wanted to paint a wall (a soft black or that sorta darkest purple, that has black in it, with Chalk Paint to achieve a linen texture: (like a Linen Paper Stock, like an invitation or high end Stationary). I just don't know if that would require a Sealer, (can't imagine it would, for a wall) Anyway, if you have time, please advise on #2. Take care and "no stressing" I can feel your stress. You must release any guff that may be causing you stress. I have a recipe that cures that subject. BTW, you will find that February is a month abundant in positive energies and creative flow. Fabulous for your Passions. When's your Birthday, and Time 8f Birth? I can give you some highlights of available Energies that support your work. Just something I ran across in some research, got interested in, and then studied for 5 years, and I still stay current on the energies of our Solar System. Everything is part of the whole, and each are absolutely an important part, each of us have a planned purpose and intended journey Experiences. (This too I have studied, mostly what I do is Academic related). Go Play and be Happy, that's your Job! Hugs! Beth

This came out so lovely. At the very end, when you staged it, I absolutely love how the draperies in the background puddle on the ledge. The way you sort of folded the puddle effect, is so pretty. I am shocked that nobody mentioned it, but I have always used a feather to create the veining in the marble. You just put the paint on the feather, then pull it over the top while twisting the feather between your thumb and finger. The lines created are completely random in thickness, but have a general direction, you can't control it which is the best thing. Anyway one of my favorite results yet, that you have done.

Thank you so much for your lovely message and info I’ve always been very creative from being a little boy I am severely dyslexic so I was mostly drawn to The things that I found my phone which were crafts and painting never had any formal training just really loved playing and learning my own way, I am I supposed to my teenage years it kind of laid dormant until I purchased my first house and couldn’t afford all of the beautiful things I saw in magazines so I decided to start re-creating the looks that I loved on a budget including making curtains decorating and of course furniture painting and thank you for asking the question and it’s so lovely when people ask my backstory sending lots of creative love J 😊❤️🙏

He truly was born with the gift of "Creative arts", and usually, (those whom recognize this in another, also have that creative just waiting to be allowed to burst through). We often seem to "inaccurately come to think we can't", "a sorta fear of failure", it merely requires that moment of inspired actions, and "Just do it". You will surprise yourself with "How Much Artist flows through You!" Whatever seems to be the most: "I wish I could" is Your, "Oh I Can"! 😘 ... and you will!

Hi Jonathon, Thank you for your very beautiful, expert tutorials. I absolutely LOVE your channel and follow everything you do (in my limited capacity) - honestly, I'm blown away at your techniques. Thank you again. I hope you see my message, because - due to inspiration from you alone - I am attempting to paint a beautiful indo teak dresser with lots of details. I'm at a loss as to how to make this look good. Do you have any advice please? I sanded down the top to reveal awesome teak, gave it a wash, following your lead, but I'm now lost. If you have any advise, due to all the detail, and the beauty of the wood, should I strip it all back and simply wash as I've done on the top? or any advice from you would be deeply appreciated. I'm so stunted here. Thanks again. Please keep on with your incredible work. If you still do classes, please advise, I'm first to sign up. Deborah

Exquisite! The spray bottle idea gives a much more natural effect than I've seen with doing a white wash and dabbing back with a cloth. Thrilled to have seen this because I'm going to try using the first technique with the colors on the plate and a wet brush, creating a water-color, dreamy effect. You are great to watch, as you bring out the fun with throwing caution to the wind. This seems to lend itself to a less studied finish, which ironically looks more expensive.
