Well David, fascinating stuff. I wonder have you ever heard of Denis McKeown from Dundalk, he was in the Guinness Book of Records for lifting a keg (62.5kgs full to the neck) over his head, 617 times back in the 80s. Denis was the milkman in Blackrock and then his friend and protege the post man Tom Gaskin went and broke Denis’ record. Then Denis went and got it back only for Tom to go and take it again. It’s worthy of Greek mythology! Both men are still going strong. Denis is in his mid 70s now. It’d be great to have his story documented, you’ll find nothing about it online. I think he also had the record for lifting a beer barrel which is about 100kgs.
