Dany had a very bad motorcycle accident before I met him. He was a gentle giant who never complained and he passed not more than a couple of months after finishing the calade. A great man in his way. Sincerely, Richard

Those two stone cutting tools. Phenomenal stuff. I intend to make something similar for sandstone one day. Hopefully I won't 're so old and decrepit that I won't be able to swing them. Dany was, and remains an inspiration. Thanks for posting👍

Fewer artisans by the day. Finding good stone masons is becoming real rare. Specially those who share passion for their art. RIP for him. This video becomes a legacy of is work. ;-) Cheers

Wow. I'm impressed and interested. How long does it take to become a stone mason? I've studied courses in Geology and know where to find minerals and how to extract them. I'm thinking of buying a piece of land and building a home with all the rocks from the land.
@garyfoster89618 жыл бұрын
Did you buy the land and build the stone house?

Traditional stone mason apprenticeship takes 7 to eleven years. Unlike the 4 year apprenticeship for being a bricklayer stone masonry takes a lot longer to learn because there’s way more to learn.

You can learn how to build from stone in a relatively short time, it takes some time to become even a journeyman stone mason however.

Well, I don't understand. What does being in the trades have to do with understanding that comment? Is it simply that one can never know anything, and that proclaiming that one does shows inexperience?

@grantdimmitt3617 жыл бұрын
jbench2 I do quite a bit of split granite stonework in Indiana. Granite is totally different than most stone you hafta read the stone and split it with the grain.
