You saw how he was rounding out the prongs towards the end. That’s how they stay in place. You don’t need much material to make stones stay in place so rounding out the prongs is more than enough. Another method is to split the prongs in half too.

@@Caparisothe ball headed drill bit. Is that the same size as the stone or larger? If I want to set 2ml stone do I use a 3ml ball drill?

If you want to set a 2mm stone you have to use the same size burr, i.e. 2mm, this applies to the pave setting technique.
