I was just looking at these exact motors for my build. I found them independently. It's great to see them in a working machine. Thank you very much for sharing!

Not a very powerful motor but good for smaller jobs.

Fabulous! I just looked up what a ready-made commercial sphere grinding machine costs..... hundreds to *thousands* of dollars. I love crystal and rock spheres, but the machinery cost put me off. which you have demonstrated - it doesn't have to. Now how about a home-built machine that will take an oblong as-found stone, and automagically do the roughing out part. The angle grinder clamped in a vise part looks tedious and dusty. 😀

Fascinating I’d love to make something like this. Do you wire the motors to spin all in same direction? Or doesn’t it matter? Thanks!
@pebble-ology1845Ай бұрын
@@JulianMakes yes must be in same direction

I’m seriously considering building one of these. You’ve done a great job of explaining how, so thank you for that. I think I’d rather make smaller, marble sized spheres, maybe in inch or so in diameter. Do you think your machine would work well for that if I made smaller cups, or would you suggest scaling the whole machine down?
@pebble-ology1845 Жыл бұрын
Sorry for the late reply, this machine would be perfect for smaller stones. The only charge would be the cup size. Good luck.

@@pebble-ology1845 Oh cool, thanks. Would those motors have enough power with smaller rocks too? I saw in a later video where you said it was a little underpowered.
@pebble-ology1845 Жыл бұрын
@@MichiganRocks the motors used in this video should be fine because there would not be much resistance grinding such small stones. If you want to do larger stones like in my videos, then I would recommend larger motors. I am coming out with a new video in the near future with new motors that I’m testing and having success.
@MichiganRocks Жыл бұрын
@@pebble-ology1845 Thanks for the reply. I think I'll just go with the motors you used. But, if you want to give me a sneak peek at your new motors, I'd be willing to consider those too.
@pebble-ology1845 Жыл бұрын
@@MichiganRocks just look up 3gn-5k gear head. It is a motor with a control that runs about $60+. I’ve only ran them for about 10+hrs and are much better than other motors. I don’t want to recommend them just yet since they are still so new, but so far are better

Awesome video. Do you use a GFCI outlet with this? Does the water drip affect the switch? Thanks for sharing this one with us.

Do you think it would be possible to use much smaller cups in this build? Like small enough to make spheres about 1/2" in diameter?
@pebble-ology1845 Жыл бұрын
If you could find or make a cup size small enough, then it would be great 👍
