I actually watched this video a while ago. I like to use items that don't require batteries or electricity. I was carrying a "civil war" candle made from an altoids can but it was rather limiting and short lived. Now I'm carrying a repro Stonbridge thanks to this video. I love it and am really hard on it but it's hanging in there. I'll bet that the originals are even tougher. In addition, I'm a short, 65 yr old female, Nam veteran, and have always used Alice pak frames but got an old Boy Scout frame that is just the best. I use it with my Alice pack. I think it's from the 60's or 70's. Imagine my delight when I found your channel! Thank You! Keep on keeping on.

As a proud son of a Nam' vet and heavy military family, welcome home and thank you for everything. I mean it. I love my Stonebridge and hope to some day have them accurately reproduced. The sliding air vents are really nice to regulate the internal heat and air consumption to make the most out of the burn time for candles. It is a fine detail, albeit not entirely necessary, that the current repros lack. Alice's are certainly rugged but those old Scout aluminum frames can hold their own surprisingly well! I appreciate you reaching out and thank you for the support, perhaps we will meet on the trail some day!

I was at the county dump about a year ago and an older man was donating some metals and he had one of these guys. It was in fantastic condition, made of brass, with the medical insignia, mica glass all in one piece. I spotted it and asked him what that brass sandwiched looking thing is and he said "it's an old lantern, Ya want it?" I didn't realize then what he'd just given me and today was going thru an old box of miscellaneous stuff in the back of my truck and BOOM! there it was. I'd totally forgotten about it. Well I gotta say this thing is awesome! It's got the weight of history in it. Works wonderful. Prolly the coolest thing I've accidentally found free, forgotten about, and found again. Pretty neat. Thanks for the vid! CANDLE POWER!!!!

I have always wanted this for my kit! D-cell batteries in the 1950s did not hold a charge very long. A well-protected candle flame could provide light for at least as long. Candles were lighter in the pack than batteries.

Great video! I’ve had one for decades, still has directions, didn’t know about the extra lense or the air regulators!

Love these lanterns. I picked up a couple a number of years ago and use them quite a bit. Perfect too for my Florida hurricane kit using beeswax candles. I bought some mica sheets to replace the century-old cracked, sooty ones they came with. Easy cut to fit and install. Looks and works like new.

I bought a couple pounds of beeswax to make some 1" candles specific for mine! I have only used paraffin so far and since they are not the right diameter it is awkward to really use it beyond a table setting. They are really cool for sure! Thanks for stopping by and sharing brother!

Cool mica lens panels. You can still get sheets of mica. We had an old electric light fixture outside, that as I recall wasn't working in the 50's that had a mica lens panel. At some point it fell out before I could save the old lamp fixture. Thanks for sharing your research.

They run pretty high and I am sure there are tons floating around since they were advertised even into the late 30's. It is a cool piece of kit! Is yours tin?

@@honorableoutfitters It appears to be galvanized tin. I had been watching them for a year on ebay but finally jumped on a BuyNow. I hit antiques store and flea markets every weekend yet I have never seen one there. Glad to finally have one.

I first saw one on Dave. Canterbury's KZbin channel. Was very cool? I saw one at my gun club yard sale. And I passed it up I saw one on marketplace used ones picked it up for $25, original galvanized. I love it. I had to dip it in hot water to get all the old wax off of it. But it works great, great channel brother. I am a new subscriber. And I can't wait to see all of your videos. Hello, from detroit, michigan USA and GOD-BLESS

I got mine for $75 I think. They tend to run high but I have seen them go for lower once in awhile...it just depends on the luck of the draw.

After I watched this video, I purchased the reproduction from Amazon. I love the product and posted a review with pictures on the Amazon site. I've gotten questions from people concerning the product. Someone asked me if the sides were still mica or are they now plastic. I have no idea. I was wondering if I have your permission to direct them to your web site and/or KZbin channel? You're the man when it comes to this stuff and I think that if they like this product, they'll like your other content too. Skeeter, A fan
