Very good question. The sponge rollers came with 2-3 smaller sponges to hit edges and stuff like that. They also sell a smaller roller for the backsplash and tie the vertical and flat surface together with the small sponges. I'll have to give it a try on site! Because you only apply clear epoxy you can do this technique on vertical surfaces like existing backsplash. Thanks for watching and the great question

I just don’t know how to do the measuring to find out how many square feet I need. It looks like the shape of an L but the bottom corner where it meets together is cut off sort of. Can you give me an idea on how to measure with that wedge cut out of it? My sink is at an angle and the countertop follows the direction of the sink in the back. I hope that makes sense to you. Thanks for your help, I love watching your videos. I wish I didn’t known about you guys 20 years ago, I could’ve had a good business! Thanks Mitch God bless. P.S. "50 Shades of Grey" isn't a real thing in the paint world, genius. And you have to be a moron to buy 4 full cans of 4 "shades of gray" regardless of how "cheap" paint is (like anybody would put down CLEAR EPOXY and then decide to "redo" the "whole thing" that is smart enough to know you're NEVER going to "redo" jack shit AFTER applying the epoxy which is PERMANENT unless you like a hammer and chisel "texture" in your "original countertop") when EVERY "shade of gray" is a MIXTURE OF BLACK AND WHITE AND YOU'RE ALREADY BUYING WHITE FOR THE "BASE COAT" AND ONLY NEED TWO "COLORS" - NEITHER OF WHICH IS GRAY - FOR YOUR "SHADES OF GRAY" SO-CALLED "PAINT SCHEME". AND BY THE WAY GOOD LUCK "REDOING" IT UNTIL YOU GET IT RIGHT "CHEAP" WHEN EVERY FAILED ATTEMPT WILL REQUIRE YOU TO COVER ALL THOSE "SHADES OF GRAY" WITH MORE "BASE COATS" OF WHITE BEFORE "STARTING OVER". THIS "SYSTEM" IS SUCH A COMPLETE JOKE COMPARED TO BUYING REAL STONE COUNTERTOPS OR HAVING AN EXISTING COUNTERTOP "OVERLAID" WITH A STONE "VENEER" - BOTH OF WHICH ARE BOTH "2 DAY JOBS" FOR ANY REAL COUNTERTOP PROS. ONE "DAY" FOR MEASURING AND PREP AND ONE "DAY" FOR INSTALLATION. THE ABAOLUTE BARE MINIMUM THIS JOKE "SYSTEM" TAKES BETWEEN "COATS" IS "24 HOURS" AND THAT'S IN AN "IDEAL SITUATION". YOU'LL FUCK AROUND FOR A "WEEK" DOING IT "RIGHT" AND MAKING SURE EACH COAT IS FULLY "CURED" BEFORE APPLYING THE NEXT AND THAT'S IF YOU GET THE "COLOR SCHEME" RIGHT THE FIRST TIME. AND "CLEANUP"? THERE IS NO "CLEANING UP" 2-PART EPOXY ONCE IT "ACTIVATES" AND BEGINS CURING WITHOUT THE TYPE OF "CLEANING" AND "CLEANER" YOU ABSOLUTELY DON'T WANT TO BE DOING IN OR USING IN YOUR "NEW KITCHEN" UNLESS YOU WANT TO "REDO" EVERY SURFACE AND SUBSTANCE YOU "CLEAN".

Yes, it will take longer though. If there are colors mixed into the epoxy, the blow dryer can move them and over meld them because of how much air is blowing. A heat gun does a great job also. Love your enthusiasm and all of your comments. We love granite that is grey green and has a few hints of light rose believe it or not. Some greens have black and brown/tan. Always grey green tone. Also do you ever do a mix on top of butcher block where you let the wood slightly show thru? Maybe with glazing to thin it? That could spruce up a lot of peoples wood countertops for a new look. Thank you. Have subscribed.

Very interesting.. I just did this same technique on my walls. I recommend getting the 4 inch sea sponge rollers instead.. the 9 inch absorb way too much paint, and get heavy, and waste paint. I start with darkest color 1st. If you go really light final coat with the lightest color at the end, and just add some here and there, it's like a ghosting effect. I wouldve done the alcohol with metallic right after the final coat of paint. Also, put some spray paint on your gloved fingertips and flick onto the surface (like gold, or silver). Then, if you take a small popsicle stick and make little "cuts" here and there, it makes it look really awesome. I like what you said about affordability. This eliminates all the epoxy from the color coat phase. Hmmm good call.

@stonecoatcountertops can you epoxy a drum set??? Ive had lots of problems applying epoxy to cylindrical objects.

The epoxy will run if applied vertically, also it can change the sound of a drum or acoustic guitar. If you apply the epoxy thickener then the material acts like venetian plaster and can go vertical but no longer self levels. Cool idea!

This looks beautiful. For the semi-gloss latex layers I would like to use the same shade of creamy white that I have in my walls, the olive-ish shade of gold that goes with the flooring, and the black that matches the cabinets, with black stone spray accents. And I might try some alcohol with gold metallic in it on a sample piece to see if I like it. I already have satin latex - will that work the same as semi-gloss latex?

Can I put this over laminate old bathroom counter top? Do I need to sand it 1st? Or just roll it on like the video? Wondering about prep? Thank you..

I might try this, but I wish he would have mentioned if you have to lightly sand the finished work.?. Anyone know if the clear coat epoxy is the very last step? Thanks
