After logging this drone flight and gaining the relevant authorisation from Lark Hill / Salisbury operations, I then obtained a lovely orbital flight around Stonehenge on the 2nd of June, 2024.
My only spoiling point was having to educate the police regarding the laws on drones and my flight in question, as the English Heritage security thought they owned the airspace as well as the land; however, the police were both polite and very accommodating and professional, understanding that I knew the drone law and that I had carried out due diligence and all relevant checks.
I'm happy enough with my footage, but I will be returning, as my flight was cut short due to having to return my drone to then have the conversation with the police in a safe manner. I would suggest to any potential drone flyers in this area to be aware that you may be confronted, so please be prepared and make sure you obtain the correct flight permission from Salisbury operations if doing an orbital flight over the stones and into their airspace.
In conclusion, from my experience, the VIP tours are going on continuously from 5 am to 9 pm, and the stewards, if they spot your drone in the air, will try to obstruct any lovely footage you may want to obtain of just the stones on their own. Please don't let them intimidate or badger you; just stay on public land at all times and engage when you're ready to safely do so.
I hope this helps, and please don't let this put you off flying at Stonehenge. If you want to ask me any questions, please feel free to contact me.
