Great and very helpful. I just ordered one and will be here soon. My question is should you or can you keep the battery on the charger. Like DeWalt suggest to leave the battery on the charger and it wouldn't hurt the battery.
@NewBritWorkshop2 жыл бұрын
As far as I know there is no harm in doing this. I do it all the time, sometimes for several day. It is a very clever charger. Cheers. Peter
@AaronGeller2 жыл бұрын
@@NewBritWorkshop From an electrical stand point, it won't hurt the battery as once the battery is at the right voltage, it'll "float". For long term storage, it's recommended to not leave it on the charger.

Is that chuck actually by Jacobs? I have a couple of older FS drills and I think both their chucks were by Rohm. On the "feel" point, I like this style of drill because it feels better balanced than the tee format when actually in use; it is, of course, shorter - another plus point for access.
@NewBritWorkshop5 жыл бұрын
I think most people use "Jacobs" as a generic for the keyless style. I do not know who actually make these. I have had no problems at all with my various Festool drills and therefore cannot fault the chucks in any way. Cheers. Peter

Why is the angle attachment white and not black like the rest of the kit? That really bugs me! Does this drill have a battery level indicator?
@NewBritWorkshop3 жыл бұрын
The angle gadget is Festool grey and is a very solid bit of kit. There is a battery level indicator with a little button at the front of the drill just above the battery. Peter

When I went to get this drill, as 99% sure, I ended up with the T version as felt better to my hand, plus might be better in tight spot as hand still mostly within length of body when using.

If you want a quality normal shaped drill than buy a hilti or a high end metabo. There's no equivalent of a c18 or a cxs, it's designed for some unusual tasks

Thank you for this video. How to choose between the T 18 and C 18. I cannot make a choice between these two drills.

Hi Christophe, Have you also looked at the PDC 18 - it is a great all round drill/driver? Peter

Thanks Peter. Another great Festool product review. I currently have a C15 Li Set. The Eccentric and Right Angle chucks are quite well designed and useful for cabinet work. My question is; what are the differences in the C15 vs the C18? The only difference I notice are the new Airstream batteries. (Admire their quicker recharge time.) Or are there other functional differences that would warrant serious upgrade discussion? Thanks again for all that you do. The topics you cover are as relevant to me as your teaching style is enjoyed and appreciated. For the record, I’m just a DIY guy who enjoys buying and renovating older homes and commercial property to add value in leasing and selling. Thanks again Peter.
@NewBritWorkshop6 жыл бұрын
Hi Brian, Good to hear from you again. I do not know the C15 at all. The C18 is a neat tool and so I suggest that you look in your C15 manual and see what characteristics your machine has and compare them to the Festool C18 on their web site. Good luck. Peter
@brianrussell76916 жыл бұрын
Thank you. I did as you suggested and discovered briefly the C 15 is a 14.4 volt device with a brushless motor so it has that benefit, and the C 18 is an 18 volt device and an ETC brushless as well. Perhaps the C15 was Festool's first crack at the brushless motor for a drill? Just a hunch. For my work, I haven't noticed a limitation yet on the C 15. So if i do need to go up in capability, maybe the smart thing is to look towards the PDC model. Thanks again ~ Cheers!
@NewBritWorkshop6 жыл бұрын
Hi Brian, Yes, if I were in your shoes I would certainly go for the PDC 18/4. It is a true workhorse and capable of anything in the drill-driver line. Peter
@tonysheehan77666 жыл бұрын
I also have the C15 and like the C18 it lacks, I think, an important feature, that is a hammer action. So you still need something like the PDC if you want to drill masonry and this leaves you with quite a heavy lump of a drill driver in the C15/18. I think a better all round pairing would be, say, a PDC for the heavy duty stuff and the C/TXS as your drill driver. It's certainly what I wish I'd done!

Great demonstration, Is there a Centronic bit that is 25mm and would go through a 3 inch joist?
@NewBritWorkshop6 жыл бұрын
Take a look at Axminster's web site. Festool do a 25 mm Forstner but it may not cut to a 3" depth - I am camping in The Netherlands and too far away from the workshop to check. Peter

The centrotec system is off the scale I'm using it in my other makes as well now no more spinning drill bits in dodgy chucks dewalt is especially bad for chucks my mates chuck has to be loosened with water pump grips to get his bits out

great video , cheers , one question , this being a lower revs and torque than say a makita dtd170 or 154 , how would it go driving batton or bugle head screws into timber where the impact driver makitas excel

basically my question is in comparison with a dtd170 makita

Peter - thank-you for the excellent video! I already have the CXS and am pondering whether I should pair it with either the C/T18 or PDC. If you had to buy just one of these alternatives, which one would you go for for general woodworking?
@NewBritWorkshop6 жыл бұрын
Hi Steve, My next Festool video will go through these sort of options. For me, I would have the PDC 18/4 as it can also be used for drilling into brick. Cheers. Peter

I believe the eccentric chuck doesn’t fit on the PDC, which is the only drawback for someone who predominantly does cabinet work. It may be a significant drawback for these users though.

Hi Peter. Another great review. Will the battery charger for my new cordless Festool sanders accept these batteries? Cheers.
@NewBritWorkshop6 жыл бұрын
Hi David, Yes, those sanders come with the TCL6 charger which can charge all the large style batteries. The charging may take a little longer than the Airstream charger as there is no fan keeping things cool. Many thanks for the kind words. Peter
