Stihl MSA 70 C Cordless Chainsaw and chainsaw advice

The recent storms had brought down all sorts of large branches and I have been lucky enough to borrow a cordless chainsaw to convert it all into logs for next winter. In this video I give advice about chainsaw use and safety.

Bought my battery chainsaw a couple of years ago & very pleased with it & very reliable. Guy in shop reminded me that just because it’s not as loud as a petrol version it is still a dangerous tool if not respected - great advice that I think about every time I pick it up! 👍

Battery chain saws these days are fantastic. I use an EGO, and it rips through Australian hardwood like butter. Love it. Thanks for the demo.

Hi Shaun, It is very quiet and, although slightly slower at cutting than a well maintained petrol machine,it does just as great a job and is much lighter. Cheers. Peter

Yes, I will sell my petrol machine (I hope I can make it run okay). I already have an AK battery and so I could buy the bare machine for under £200. Cheers. Peter

Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I am at that stage where I am wanting to buy a chainsaw for the first time. The petrol ones look scary, so am choosing the battery one to start with until I get confident.

You are making the right decision. I was amazed just how much work this chainsaw did on just one charge of the battery - far more than most homeowners would need. It is also very safe but please make sure that you get the right safety gear - mine has lasted over 40 years so it will be a good investment. Cheers. Peter

Hi peter, ive followed you for years, i enjoy your videos. You may find increased runtime by not engaging the motor between cuts, same as with a petrol chainsaw. Just my input 🙂 im a professional forester so my experience is with petrol, but in the past ive used many battery tools from my construction career previously 😊

That is really useful advice, thank you. I must say that I did my best to run the machine to the stage of getting the battery flat but ran out of logs to cut. I was told that the tool is amazing when I borrowed it. Cheers. Peter

I have one and it’s brilliant. Using it at the moment to cut sleeper for raised beds. It zips through heavy pruning. Used to borrow my brothers but he kept wanting it back

Do you need googles under the mesh visor or is the mesh visor sufficient protection?

The mesh is sufficient but I always were protective glasses in the workshop. Peter

I maybe wrong but sense is on two hands configuration with not be better the 220C?

I@@NewBritWorkshop I sure believe. I have the GTA26, 161T, 220C, MSA300, Trimmer135 and the BGA86. All thoes machines are Great no doubt, the batteries for comercial use still Light years away.
