Another great demonstration of lateral thinking Peter, these types of clamps offer excellent clamping power and this device is a really cost effective solution for a bench vice. Thanks very much for sharing this. all the best tony

H Tony, How are you? Thank you so much for this. I am using this vice now all the time and wish that I had thought of the idea before. Cheers. Peter

Great job Peter. I see this vice useful for bringing the work higher, like for cutting dovetails. You have the work closer to the eye so you can be more precise cutting. Lovely job as usual. Cheers

Hi Pedro, I hope that you are well and not working too hard. Since making this vice I have used it several times and now feel that it has merit and will be used a lot in my workshop. It was about the 3rd or 4th design that I looked at and the second one that I made. Take care. Peter

Hi Peter nice video as always, maybe you could have used your DF500 to cut the pass through holes for your clamps.
@NewBritWorkshop7 жыл бұрын
Hi Kevin, I did think of that but the holes would have been too long. It was very quick and easy to drill and tidy up with the chisel. Cheers. Peter

Very clever project. During the video you mention removing the plastic tabs on the clamps so you could use magnets to hold the back of the vise to them. Did you try them and were you successful? I think I will make my vise with a different type of wood on top like yours. It looks sharper!
@NewBritWorkshop7 жыл бұрын
Hi Gary, The magnets would have made it a bit awkward as they were not as good as I had hoped. Peter

Reminiscent of the Moxon vices that Jay Bates made with pipe clamps.
@NewBritWorkshop7 жыл бұрын
Hi Tom, Yes, I did try to make a Moxon style vice (I showed my effort near the start of this video) but the screw threads were too difficult to get hold of and I wanted a simpler and cheaper solution. Cheers. Peter

Great idea and lovely video as usual. Do you think the sliding part from your first prototype could limit the racking or was it just in the way?
@NewBritWorkshop7 жыл бұрын
Hi Rikard, It might help slightly but if it is an issue it would be better to counteract the arms of the clamps from raising behind the rear fence. Peter

question why aren't you using the him router table you built some time ago which you said would replace the FEstool unit ? regards.

Hi Steve, Not sure what you mean ? Peter

New Brit Workshop sorry Peter ,you did a couple of vids some time ago showing the building of your new router table from Axminster with cast iron top , router lifter etc and yet you in this video you still seem to be using the FEstool router table just curious why ? regards .
@NewBritWorkshop7 жыл бұрын
Hi Steve, After getting the X-Carve CNC I realised that I needed more space. Something had to go and a second router table was a luxury. The UJK table was brilliant except it was tricky to fit the router and I found bit changes not so easy. It was jolly accurate and easy to use and the cast iron top makes it a dream. However, I do not do enough routing to justify two tables. The Festool CMS-OF is easy to move around, takes up half the space of the UJK one and is as accurate as I need. The fence is not Festool's best bit of design work but I manage. The dust collection and cutter changes are brilliant. It is a dash on the expensive side. Cheers. Peter

New Brit Workshop Peter thank you for the reply ,I was going to ask how you are getting on with the table now you have had it a while but your reply has answered that one thank you and please keep the vids coming .

Hello Peter. Another great video. I have a couple of questions for you. How do I send you a private message to get the plans for some of your projects. I am a novice KZbin viewer and don't have a clue😞. And do you have a list of which projects you have plans for? Also I just downloaded your e-book Stone Message so I am looking forward to reading it this weekend. My apologies for posting this in the comments section...
@NewBritWorkshop7 жыл бұрын
Hi Ron, Follow this link kzbin.info Then click on "About" and then on "Send Message". If you look at my various playlists you will see the projects. In almost every case, if it involves making something rather than demonstrating a technique then there should be some sort of plan or, in some cases, a simple sketch to help other people. Many thanks for buying the book - I wish everyone who received my plans were as helpful. Peter

Thanks Peter. I'll jump on later and PM you. Thanks for the information.

@@NewBritWorkshop Hello Peter, from wintry Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. I have just recently binged watched (backwards, starting from your latest and going to your earliest) almost all of your wonderful KZbin videos. I stopped here as it took until this one to determine how to contact you to receive plans. I followed your instruction here to Ron. However, today there is no option to “send message” under your “about” menu. Now what? BTW, your video topics and your approach to instruction and information sharing are superb.

@@NewBritWorkshop Peter, I cannot see any “view email address” option. I “can” see options to either email you or “WhatsApp” you or SMS you or Facebook Message you, but when I select any of those options, the “to” address for each option is blank. Now what?
