I cannot wait to make this (Just ordered it). I can't fit a 4X8 sheet of plywood in my jeep. So I often cut it up in the parking lot of homedepot. Even with a tracksaw, you can't get it *THAT* accurate so I have to cut it again on my tablesaw. But now that I can take a 3'X4' cutting station with me, I can make perfectly square cuts! I *CANNOT* wait to do this the next time I go to get my sheet goods.

Well, I started using the Parf Guide System today to build a workbench. It is just an amazing system. I watched your videos, and the ones David Stanton has done, read the instructions a couple of times, and had absolutely no problems. Just ingenious the way it works, and the quality of the kit is just excellent. Brilliant piece of design.
@bighands696 жыл бұрын
@@FJD333 I made a bench that is really a frame. This then allows me to make tops of different dimensions. I have a bench top that is especially for making up frames of an exact size when on site. Armed with a domino I can produce frames of the exact same size on site very easily. It acts like a jig or template. And I can change out the top for various arrangements. And it all fits in the back of a van easily.

Hi John, I had you (and others like you) in mind when the PGS was being developed. I see it as an ideal way for a professional business to equip a workforce with cutting stations for just the cost of the MDF. They can be replaced at frequent intervals - if they wear out, get left in the rain or get pinched. Once you have used your PGS and are satisfied I would be really grateful if you could leave a review on the Axminster web site as it will help inform other professionals as well. Here is the link to the product page: www.axminster.co.uk/ujk-technology-parf-guide-system-102278 Many thanks. Peter

Peter, I am interested in the sawhorses under the speedy work station, bought or built? If they are built is there a video and/or plans? Thank you.
@NewBritWorkshop5 жыл бұрын
Hi John, Yes, there is a video of a similar design that can be scaled to suit your needs: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gpPFpJWEerOChJo I have a simple set of plans for that one as well. My plans are free of charge. In order to get plans or to contact me via email I need your email address. KZbin no longer has a private messaging service and so in order to get in touch you need to place a comment on this or any other video with your email address. The KZbin software should identify and send it to the spam folder for The New Brit Workshop. Nobody will be able to see your email address except you and me. I will then send you the plans and delete your comment so that it does not end up in the public domain. Were we to do this the other way around then my comment, with my email address, would appear for all the world to see. Please let me know which plans you need each time you get in touch. Peter

Hi John, Lee Valley are supporting the North American market but they ran out of stock a couple of weeks ago. Axminster have also run out of stock - demand is high and still increasing ! So, expect stock to be with Lee Valley by about 7th April but they take back orders so you can order now. Also, Axminster do ship world wide and you can pay in US $ on their web site. Peter

Great system and ideas! Wish I would have discovered the mft table and parf system years ago. Quick question, what thickness is the mdf used on your speedy station? Keep up the amazing work!
@NewBritWorkshop3 жыл бұрын
Hi Darren, All of my tops are created with 18 mm Medite Moisture Resistant MDF. 3/4" would be fine. I would not go thinner than 18 mm and no thicker than 22 mm as the extra thickness makes using the PGS more difficult and may prevent the use of certain types of clamps. Cheers. Peter

Thanks so much Peter, I found the price at axminster shipped to Canada actually a bit less than Lee Valley in Canadian dollars. Is there any difference in the two current kits? Very excited to receive this after trying to make an MFT style top with the Bosch LR32 equivalent system without the precision I hoped for in the end.
@NewBritWorkshop6 жыл бұрын
I know that Axminster are keeping their shipping costs down. Perhaps the UK Pound is a little weak at the moment which helps. The kits are the same all over the world. Peter

@NewBritWorkshop4 жыл бұрын
You just need the Parf Guide System - the basic version is £139 and the Mark 2 version is £199.
@davidmatke2487 жыл бұрын
Hi Peter, I just wanted to take a moment to tell you I used your Parf Guide System to create my very first tracksaw cutting station. Perhaps the best part is that I don't even own a tracksaw yet! I am planning on buying a festool TS55 and CT 26 very soon. I feel like I spent more time initially struggling to get the guide pins to fit into the holes in the Parf Sticks than the whole rest of the process, but it's easier now that I've broken them in so to speak. 1 question for you: does it matter which way you use the 3mm drill guide? The instruction guide picture looked like it had the smaller diameter side facing down, but in your KZbin videos it looks like you've used it in both orientations.
@NewBritWorkshop7 жыл бұрын
Those 3 mm pins are designed to be tight as part of the overall system accuracy. It does not matter which way up you use the 3 mm drill guide. It has that shoulder so that it can, in special circumstances, be used in one of the 25 mm holes of the 20 mm Guide Block - if an extra 3 mm hole needs to be drilled after all the 20 mm holes have ben cut. You must be very excited waiting for the new track saw. Good luck. Peter

Does the kerf go in the center of a hole? Maybe you can put a wooden dog in for zero clearance. I don't know how well that would work.. hm
@NewBritWorkshop8 жыл бұрын
In my enthusiasm I drilled out all of those holes across the sheet of MDF. I should have missed the one where the kerf line went - I have managed to do this on my other cutting stations. The only issue by having that 20 mm hole there is that it must not be used for any of the Parf Dogs. Peter

Again, nice video! I was planning to make a mobile cutting station and this is what I need! :) Do you remember the measurement from the first hole you drilled? Or how you calculate where to start?
@NewBritWorkshop8 жыл бұрын
I wanted to start with a row of holes across the 1220 mm width. That would be 12 lots of 96 mm = 1152 mm. Take that away from 1220 mm you get 68 mm. In order for that set of holes to be centred then they will start 34 mm in from the left or right edge. The board was 930 mm long which means 9 lots of 96 mm with 66 mm left over. So the very top row or the very bottom row would be 33 mm from the top or bottom edge. However, I did not want a full row at the very top (just a single hole for that top Parf Dog) and so I started at the second row down which was 33 mm + 96 mm = 129 mm from the top edge. So I marked a point 129 mm from the top edge and 34 mm from the left edge and put my 3 mm drill through as my starting point for that row. In order to get the Parf Stick reasonably parallel to the top edge I marked a line at the other end 129 mm from the top edge which I "eyeballed" through one of the 3 mm holes at the end of the Parf Stick. I hope that this helps. Peter

Excellent as always! Peter do you think it would be possible to use the Festool Domino to create the same kind of a tabletop layout as it is with the mft3? I mean instead of drilling those 20mm holes one might use the domino to acchieve the approximately same kind of functionality?
@NewBritWorkshop8 жыл бұрын
I can see the idea buy it would be nowhere near as accurate. When I first started with my design concept I was getting about 0.5 degrees of accuracy and now the production system is nearly 100 times better. I doubt whether a Domino approach could be even 0.5 degrees accurate - no fault of the Domino as it is great at doing what it was designed to do. Cheers. Peter

You can make your cutting station in less than 15 minutes and it will be good for a year or more. The PGS can be used time and time again. Your 90 degree cuts will be near CNC accurate. Peter
