First of all, we cut the stone specifically for the pavement, without giving it strict square-rectangular shapes (see HOW TO HANDLE THE STONE at stonesuccess.v....
Then we prepared the soil on which we will lay the pavement on top. Then the drainage was filled in - crushed stone and chips from stone processing.
A thin layer of concrete was poured over the drain and leveled. Reinforcement mesh was laid on the concrete, cutting off its excess parts. Put concrete on top with shovels and immediately cover the stone.
The threads were pulled as a level. It is with the help of threads that the shape of the pavement and its slope are regulated. In our case, the pavement is made with a slight downward slope, a concave arc, and also a slight slope to the side. These are drains for water: during heavy rains, water will not stagnate on the road, but will drain into specially designated channels.
A thread was pulled along the edge of the pavement sector along the width of the road. Then we pull the beacon threads along the road, perpendicular to the transverse thread. The number of these threads depends on the width of the road, on its relief and on the number of craftsmen who will lay the stone. Since our pavement is very wide, 3 masters lay it at the same time, so we pulled 4 threads along the road. Each master has his own short rule, which the master applies perpendicularly to the stretched threads, leveling the stones in the masonry.
When the string beacons are ready, we put the beacon stones on them in a checkerboard pattern. In this case, it is not correct to expose beacons exactly along one line, because in the finished masonry of the road, they will immediately catch the eye.
Then they laid out the pavement with stones. Place the stones so that the deep "root" of the stone, from 15 to 35 cm, goes deep into the pavement. Stones for the pavement must not be laid flat or with a short "root".
We find an ANIMAL for each stone stonesuccess.v... - the most convex part of the upper plane. We find the place of this stone in the pavement. We put a solution on this place with a slide and place a stone on it. We knock on the stone with a hammer until the highest central part of the stone falls to the height of the stretched thread. We check with a bar.
We put the pavement in sectors, about 5x5 m. Between them we make construction joints so that one sector of the road is separated from the other. Thus, two adjacent sectors do not come into contact with each other either with concrete, mesh or masonry. This prevents cracking of the stone road and increases its durability.
When the masonry sector is completed, all cement particles must be removed from the surface of the stones. We wash the sector with a pressure washer and all stones become clean.
Fill the gaps between the stones in the masonry with a mortar of concrete.
When the solution between the stones has dried out a little, we scrape off the excess solution with a trowel or a triangular scraper, and begin to clean the seams with metal brushes, making small indentations in the seams, about 1 cm.
After joining, we sweep and then again wash out the excess part of the mortar from the stones with a high pressure washer.
This pavement adjoins the highway at an upward bend in the soil. How to make sure that the extreme stones of the pavement do not fly out under loads? We have placed very deep stones to ensure maximum road strength at this crossing.
Now big cars are constantly driving along this road because the construction of the villa continues. And the pavement can support any weight of the car.
