Gold is really good though, I was poor and sold iron ingots just to pay taxes, but I struck gold and got over 1500 dollars. I've made a lot of friends on this server, some of whom have been exiled and some still work with me in my game job. This is a great server, and I'm thinking of writing a book on the server recounting all my adventures, dangerous missions, and all of the great friends and players I have made and met. Thank you Stoneworks for such a great server. It really helps me during lockdown 👍

Dam. Why did Uldarash sent their whole entire army into one choke point they made which is basically a suicidal path. They could've done a flanking strategy like splitting the army into 2 divisions, the first division should have heavy equipment, having shields and axes. Then the second division who is going to flank them should be light and fast killers. But instead they didn't.

Even if that the case , all Bardonia had to do is to strike off the light army first and then finish off the rest (Defeat in Details) . They could had make floating fortresses and carpet bomb the area or use artillery to weaken the defense first or wins the war by attrition (that is to make your enemy lose all their equipment ) since they are trap behind the wall. But for your credits, this streagy would had work a lot better than idiotic all out assault on heavily fortified area (WW1 for reference).

Seems like they were fighting 2 army's, 1 in defense trained in guerilla hit and run while the other was in static defensive position and the more professional standing force. Also either he didn't notice the bardonia force wheeling or was planning to use speed over less cumbersome terrain to swarm the flank before wheeling menuver was completed. Can't say for sure but wish could interview the commanders of both sides. Bardonia did seem to get lucky and have some interesting circumstances happen at the right moment. Seems also a lot of mercenaries were involved using subterfuge considering there was a whole heap of movements despite both commands issuing a non aggression policy. Wouldn't be surprised if bardonia was responsible for certain incidents considering they had the most to gain from an active engagement

After watching both videos, it all make sense now. The stories of the prominent old players that are still around today seemed far-fetched when I first joined around January this year. Now, all link together. Hearing the drunk tales of old man WhiskeyKnight about this conflict now hits different. As a guy who is considered a youngling in terms of the server's history, the Golden War felt like ancient history compared to what I have experienced on Rathnir so far. What amazes me the most is that ripple effect of the consequences that despite occuring around October, are still felt up to this day. And that's why I love this server very much.

@@dragooll2023 uncoordinable is very doubtful, there’s multiple ways with going about that. Have separate vcs for each entrance push or something akin to that. I guess its predictable? But then again so is just forming in entrance to try pushing in. There was no real counter beyond just throwing all they had at the choke point, this would solve that issue since people would have to split up to defend. This would leave different strategies to work with, like removing a section of the army from the other chokepoints and having them join the main one. Its called fighting in detail, worked for napolean. Have the enemy split up their forces, halfen your split up forces to join one of the bigger units and essentially have a bigger army than your enemy as they’re too split up

9:40 it’s amazing how extremely similar this is to a real life battle in the American Civil war, the battle of the crater. Union troops, trying to make progress in their siege of Confederate Petersburg, used mines to reach under the confederate line and hoped to blow them up and invade through the ruins. They eventually succeeded, but the general in charge didn’t want to send in the troops trained for this mission. The reason being they were Black, and he was worried if the mission went bad the North would hate him for needlessly endangering Black soldiers. So he sent in unprepared troops into the crater, they weren’t sure what to do and were stuck, confederates quickly regathered and rained hell on the union soldiers, massacring them. One union soldier described the instance as a “turkey shoot”. It was a massacre and the union was butchered in a crater they created. It’s amazing how rich the history and events of this game are, being just as rich as real life

The initial Bardonian attack reminds me a lot of the Trojan attack on Greeks at the Hellespont. They tried to flood through the main gate and there were so many dead Trojans that when they retreated they found they could cross the motes now because of all the corpses. This is why you read classics guys. Shoulda went with the horse tactic.

I almost actually joined Paloro before it united into the empire, but Stoneworks almost never had any slots open so I never fully got into it and I went to do other things. Its cool to see stoneworks history continuing! (NOTE: If I mispelled anything, sorry.)

Loved the video Stoneworks! I've been watching the goings on of the Empires SMP and seeing your videos makes me wonder "How would everything in Rathnir turn out if 1.) Mods like Flans Mod or the NavalBattleZone: High Caliber plugin were updated for Minecraft 1.17.1 and 2.) What would happen if everyone from the Empires SMP had their own Empires in Rathnir?" Like, would they be able to play with their fans? Maybe! But one can only imagine just how chaotic things on the Stoneworks server would get judging from what's been happening in Empires, which, strangely enough, seems to be gearing up for the servers very first war! So… 'tis the season, I guess?
