Great video as usual. One professional suggestion on the alarm system - relocate your smoke detectors to be within 8-12” of your ceiling peak. This area will fill with smoke first and the alarm will sound sooner than it’s current lower position (too low). Earlier warning gives occupants more time to escape an active fire. Keep up the good work and farm on!

After harvesting is done in the Fall, I like to add my Leaf and (herbicide free) Grass Mulch from my Compost Pile to the top of my Raised Bed, then cover with a TARP to "Minimise" Weeds. Then in early May I will break out my 2-Stroke Rototiller and give it a "Deep Till", then cover for another 2 weeks, Till again, add my Drip Irrigation and start my Planting of (grown in-house) starters for Produce! And with some Bird Nettimg and a few T-Posts I create a "barrier" to keep the Deer out. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE my Drip Irrigation and my Timers for Watering, "EASY PEASY, VEGGIE NUMMY"!

lol....very doubtful that will happen...so much BS associate with teaching nowadays....I absolutely disagree with most online classes and that's what the whole country is going too. College should be in class study...with peers, teacher interaction and learning the social skills to work with different genders, religions and cultures. College nowadays is just checking off boxes to complete classes...then folks graduate and realize they've learned nothing in college other than how to regurgitate information.....shew don't get me started bhahhahha. Going to college should be a well rounded education...learning how to deal with diverse cultural and social situations...debating and learning..not checking off boxes and being handed a degree on cliff notes...ahh...don't get me started! bhahaha

Hi Josh , I watched you video on tomatoes 🍅 , and I watched another video on planting tomatoes and he had some more sujestions for you , he recommended you add a cracked egg 🥚 to the bottom of your hole before you add the tomatoes and Barry the tomato up to the second set of leaves after you pinch them off, he also recommended you plant marigolds around your tomato plant to warts off insect and keep the weeds down there with some other benefits but I don’t remember that be good for you maybe we could dig a little hole beside your tomato plants and drop an egg in there that might do something it would be a good test !

Pinch the bottom leaves off your tomato plants then plant up to the bottom leaves that you left new roots will sprout from the stem underground, also may want to consider possibly a portable coop built to the size of your raised beds the you can move one to another and put a few chickens in and let them do the tillage and fertilization all at the same time. Would have to start before the overgrowth gets that big though.

In GA, I can’t let my beds fill with weeds in winter or I will have to pull out large briars, stinging nettle and sometimes poison ivy. But otherwise this is fantastic!
@Jstate992 жыл бұрын
have you considered doing a winter cover crop to prevent weeds from coming up?
@StoneyRidgeFarmer2 жыл бұрын
I compost in the beds..so as the manure rots...the weeds will come in...whether ya do a cover crop or not...cover crop like clover or winter wheat would be a waste of money...weeds will grow thats for sure
@Jstate992 жыл бұрын
@@StoneyRidgeFarmer good point, we have found winter rye with a combination of tillage radish make a great cover for winter, the radish will winter kill (breaks up soil compaction) and the rye makes great cover to smother out weeds. We have implemented cow manure into ours and the rye seems to be the best against smothering weeds out. Great video!

Hello. I've subscribed to your channel and am new at gardening. I'm container gardening for the first time. I'd love to learn more about how deep pots need to be for a variety of vegetables and fruits. The soil you're using in this video, would it be bad for pots? How would you make your own potting mix? Enjoying the videos and hope to see more. Blessings.

if you are gonna container garden...then just use regular potting soil..maybe mix in a little composted cow manure

man...there are all matter of crazy hippie "don't do that to your chickens" pieces of info out there...bottom line is simply this....if a chicken will eat it...then a chicken will eat it...they know what to eat and what not to eat. @@StoneyRidgeFarmer yes they do. I live in the woods, however, and I cannot feed all weeds to the hens. Things pop up here like May Apple and False Garlic. Both are extremely toxic, tho you wouldn’t think so when they’re growing right next to say Wood Sorrel. I have to be extremely careful what I toss to my hens. Of course if your weeds are growing from last year’s manure (seeds), you are probably ok doing this.
