Stoos | The World's Steepest Funicular
Stoos is famous for the world's steepest funicular at 110% or about 47 degrees. This funicular was just recently reopened in December 2017. The ride was only 3 minutes (1,740 meter route, with an altitude difference of 744 meters). It was quite and experience riding it up (and down). The altitude changes quickly with the stunning view of the hills, mountains, lakes, and the village down below.
Another interesting ride is the Chairlift. From the top of the funicular we did a little walk to the Fronalpstock chairlift. The view as beyond stunning! Then we walked apprx. 4.4km (total climb 290m, total descent 300m //although it felt longer!) to the Klingenstock chairlift. Along the hiking the view was amazinggggg!! Make sure to pack water and some food/snack to enjoy a little picnic at the top of the mountain! Sunscreen and a hat is a must!
If you just want to hop for the pictures you can take the chairlift down and then walk (flat walk) to another chairlift for another ride (Since it's a daypass ticket, why not?). But if you have a few hours I really recommend the hike. It was super beautiful!!!
The price for just a funicular ride is 11CHF with the half fare card
The price for a day pass (funicular+chairlift) is 40CHF with the half fare card.
