It depends on how you use it. So one time in 2019 as a young worker, I needed a million naira plus to start up my business, but could only afford 400k at that time. I join an ajo group of 100k monthly and got the second slot. That made me have the 1million naira I needed within 3 months, instead of waiting till the following year when my money is complete. It was like an interest-free loan for me, cause I paid back in subsequent months as Ajo, with no stress. So, always make the best of something and don’t be stuck to a single way of doing things.

I love your channel. Ajoh is still not a bad idea, only try to do it with people you know, not people you meet online. Have been doing it with the same group of people since 2019.the Co ordinator knows every one which makes it safe.FGN bond is amazing too, but is the interest as per Roi matching the rate of high inflation we are experiencing due to continued devaluation of the naira. Ajoh in dollars might be far stable than FGN bond ,I think .just my opinion.

Anuty Flo, in my opinion, there's nothing inherently wrong with the practice, afterall it's better than g@®bling on the stock market, which breeds greed, among several issues. Let's us not shame our people for preserving ancestrial practices. Also, how secure are those bonds? Especially in an unregulated market like NG? Edit: better yet, we're better off teaching people how to excerise caution when setting up these groups/investments, including how to formate legal agreements setting out individual expectations etc.
@FloFinance

Shame who? I said there's a BETTER way. Biko keep preserving your ancestral practices ooo. There's no amount of caution you will exercise with people that are dubious in nature. If you don't have hot tears to cry, stay away from ajo. Exercise caution kó.

Greetings fellow comrades. In my opinion, Adashe has more merits than demerits. It works on trust just like any other business around the world. One of the biggest benefit of Adashe is that resources is pulled without you bringing collateral or paying interest. I have seen people use it secure property. Selection criteria deployed in choosing people as members is the most important. When you do it with colleagues at work place reduces risk.

It is called ADASHE in Hausa. For everything that have advantage must have disadvantage. I prefer ADASHE bcos if you pack first, you are a borrower, if you pack last you are the lender. If the lender did not get interest it means the borrower did not pay interest which stabilizes the economy. That is called FGN BOND, this is called NEIGHBOURHOOD or COLEAGUE BOND. Why will you lend to FGN when your next door neighbour needs it. The FGN BOND is for those with large sum of money while ADASHE is for small enterpreneurs which is the backbone of every economy.

Flo, I don't think the concept of Ajo is wrong basically, participants usually take the necessary precautions and achieve their objectives. It is usually done by people who know themselves and work together. There is no venture without risk. Note that you don't do Ajo on social media Flo. FGN bond you talk about is elitist for most people in Nigeria whose financial literacy are only on the basics and they are happy to run with that.

I know many who are doing it in the US when there are banks paying 5% interest currently! I just have the amount I want to to save monthly automatically transferred to a high interest savings account and collect my 5 % interest every year !! Some people lack discipline as you stated and need this system to make them accountable !
@FloFinance

It's baffling that someone who has the discipline to contribute to monthly isusu does not have the discpline to set up a one-time direct debit to a high interest account like you did. I believe it's ignorance because even if the interest is small, it is better than the zero interest in ajo.
