The difference is that was under Klopp. This is under Slot. We can't know in only 6 months how Slot is wired when it comes to a cup loss. He at least knows by now that Nunez in a first team or not makes little difference. The forward line is responsible as we only conceded from a penalty. Slot either learns from this or repeats the same mistake like Klopp did.

If Slot had played first 11 and won but Salah or Virgil got a serious injury people would have said that these players should have been rested. Can't win either way! Slot selected the perfect squad for that game, but the players didn't deliver. Slot presented a fantastic opportunity for some of the selected players to step in and demonstrate their qualities. Unfortunately, none of the selected players performed at the required level and we deserve to lose. Hopefully, they learned a good lesson from today's game and improve from now on. I blame two things: 1. FSG and their unwillingness to spend in January. 2. Players. Depth has been exposed in today's game: 1. Luis Diaz has completely disappear. 2. Look I feel that even though it was a rotated squad it was still good enough to beat a 24th place championship team. Except Endo who was decent and Kelleher who was OK rest of them were total garbage especially Elliott, Tsimikas and Diaz. Them 3 should be ashamed of their performances. I fear your are missing a major point in this discussion. It isn't about winning quadruple but it is about fringe players having the opportunity to play in as many competitive games as possible and have game time to better themselves. If they had won this game, there would have had another opportunity to play at least another competitive match and improve. This would have provide the opportunity for the manger to put more trust on their capabilities and use them further down the line when needed. Most of the players, particularly the "senior" Liverpool players let themselves, the manager and the team down. They can't be fully trusted any longer to be relied and depended upon. That is the real shame and the disappointing outcome. However, the manager could have helped the performance and confidence of these players more, by not going as far as he did in his selection. These players needed to boost their confidence and being proud of wearing the Liverpool shirt. I blame the manger 30% but the players 70%. That should be the point of discussion and not winning FA cup. Competitive game time for fringe players to develop and be knocking at the door of the first team and offering the manger real options and choices in his future selections. Very disappointing that these fringe players let themselves, the manager and the team down.

all of what you said in the beginning of this comment is true, but the reality is that once we start coming up against clubs like Villa, United, Slot would have been pushed to use more senior players rather than today’s sort of lineup. the “training” portion of the cups ends at a certain point. Next draw we might well be against a top flight top half table team and Slot wouldn’t have the luxury to rest players anymore ultimately I think this result was good for the long term push

The front line was terrible. Midfield was non existent. Defence was shambolic. WATARU ENDO was the only one trying his best under the circumstances. The rest were passengers with no guile whatsoever. I blame the coach. He is becoming too complacent. Klopp used to do the same. These games can be very tricky. As an experience coach you either field a relatively stronger 1st line up and have academy players on the bench. Win first half convincingly then use the a academy players in the second half or academy players play it out in the first half but have a very strong bench in case things dont work out in the first half. But yesterday our first 11 was full of academy players and the bench too, there was noone on the bench. Playing midfielders in defence then you want us to blame players...NO No
