while they both have the same base concept of procedurally generated open sandbox, but the themes of both game are very different, Terraria is more wet when it comes to horror and power, all of it is new and in the now, with powerful tools and weapons mean being made from recently killed enemies, with the bosses you fight usually being fresh and young, while Minecraft is more dry when it comes to horror and power, it comes from ancient beings, the powerful tools and weapons being found or made from ancient artifacts, with the bosses having been around for near forever, or made from the dead . One of a magic system that is fresh in constant turmoil . One of a magic system with the last of its whispers being renewed long ago . Both are gorgeous and their own lovely ways

And accessories and swords do make a difference seeing as every single one of them is unique is their own way. Minecraft weapons and armor are all just recolored and slightly boosted versions of each other. And yes while command blocks can do anything the majority of things command blocks let you do you can already do in terraria. Want to make a lightning sword just find or make one with accessories. Want to make blocks appear under your feet. Just use the ice rod. Want to deal insane damage use buffs or you can use journey mode. Want to progress time or freeze it. Journey mode. Want infinite duplicates of something journey mode. They are both great games but you cant say one is definitely better especially since ive seen you in other comments saying you havent even beaten the first miniboss yet. That'd be like a new minecraft player saying the game sucks since there is no boss progression system or a that there is no complex crafting mechanics which means the game is bad. Both games are amazing but they are very different so the only way to compare them is with opinion. Not saying one game is worse because its not exactly like the other game

Sadly, Minecraft has an infinite world and is still boring as hell after a few days of playing because there really isn't much to do. Sure, progression isn't locked behind any bosses (except the elytra, and before you say you can bridge to end islands without killing the dragon, it's like saying "yeah, you can kill duke fishron before queen slime and mechs" like sure just because you CAN do it doesn't mean it's what you would do simply because it's so much more of a hassle.) but it doesn't help because the progression in all of minecraft is about as much as the progression of PRE-BOSS terraria. You can build amazing structures in both games with a similar variety of blocks, only that in Terraria you don't have building as the only thing you could do once you get through progression which is barely 5 or 6 hours to get to endgame for minecraft. Minecraft's 3D blocks give it more innate value for building, and has better multiplayer because of that, but for some astronomically stupid reason, Mojang decides to make multiplayer worse by enforcing chat moderation with vague rules which could easily threaten the accounts of innocent people. This is the problem with Minecraft. The devs are cowards. They add features against the community's wishes in fear of things like having their age rating go up. They don't balance out mechanics nor repair the absolute mess of the coding, making the game hard to run for many. They then proceed to add things that "aren't supposed to be killed and are like a natural disaster" but refuse to add actual moving hazards, and makes a mob that intends for you to use "stealth" which is *very* underdeveloped, buggy, and not fun at all, with the intended method of dealing with it failing half the time and it being more effective to just run around since they're slower than molasses unless you attack them, while Terraria just casually puts those fire wheels in the dungeon that goes "dodge, or die." Then they made said mob killable and in fact it's really a pushover in endgame even on hard (it dies in like 8 seconds with the right stuff) and refused to make it into a proper boss despite the fact that Minecraft is severely lacking in bosses and progression-based content. It's really sad to see a game with just as much, if not more potential than Terraria, only for greedy companies to make it fall behind.

This essentially means minecraft's progression is more or less useless. Creative mode already exists as a means to access the sandbox without any restrictions, which means the survival mode should have a larger focus on the the progression, and while it doesn't have to be a metroidvania bossrush game like terraria, there really should be a lot more depth to the gameplay loop than there currently is. If your goal with minecraft survival is to actually play a survival sandbox rpg and not just to play a much more tedious and time consuming version of the creative mode, I honestly think you would just have more fun playing terraria To be clear, this isn't coming from an incomplete or biased perspective either. I have somewhere around 1500+ hours in MC, not even including my time on the legacy console edition as a kid, and I know the ins and outs of everything it has to offer. Minecraft is a great game in general, it's just terrible at being a survival game

I played both for almost 7 years Minecraft is more relaxed and more of a multiplayer type of game. Terraria is an action, more difficult, and a pain in the ass if you're a casual player. Personally like Terraria more since i want to feel a more difficult game where i struggle, it's really based on you.

For anything other than building, terraria is clear for sure, but building is a VERY big part of the game with a large community based solely around it, and the fact that minecraft simply has a whole extra dimension compared to terraria makes it way better for building stuff. Overall, i still do think terraria is better but its close, like minecraft is right behind terraria. Both goated game

There are two things that are similar between them: Torches and Water buckets. The torches are pretty much the same except Terraria torches light up in your hand (without mods) and they're used in crafting recipes. And both waters stop fall damage so even if Terraria's water bucket clutches are hard, they're still there

At this point i see more terraria players comparing these games than Minecraft players. The funny thing is this used to be the exact opposite. A few years ago Minecraft players said bad stuff about terraria which was unjustified. Especially seeing how most of them hadn't even played terraria. Now i see terraria KZbinrs comparing the 2 games but in a really unfair way. Like when talking about mods they include the tmodloader for terraria, but completely ignore forge and only look at the Minecraft marketplace. In the end they are both amazing games and really different. The only thing they really have in common is that they're both survival games
