We never go out metal detecting hoping to find something valuable, for us it's always more of a quest to find forgotten pieces that were lost to history. When you explore the really old places like we do every week old coins do become a regularly found item. Most have some value, a few dollars here and there, but nothing outrageous especially when you factor in their dug coin condition. Every once in a while though we get lucky and find a coin that old, well conditioned, and quite valuable; and guess what day this was!
On a side note, even though this coin may is worth some serious cash it still wasn't my favorite coin of the day, or even close to the oldest.
