Thank you, that next gen update brings literally nothing useful to the game, its not even bethesda's own work they just grab the top 5 mods off creation club and add them without telling the mod author. WE DONT WANT YOUR CREATION CLUB SHIT BETHESDA

In fact I would even say you could go a step further and remove the DRM steam has from the EXE and from the DLL if you do that it's completely detached from steam

Okay so i got the backup the .acf old one, so if i install the fallout game can i insert this old .acf in? or will it update to the newer one?

Is there no way to prevent steam from updating a game while having it installed? Maybe something in the Acf file is telling steam that the game even needs to be updated in the first place and we can disable it somehow.

Actually maybe if you update the acf to say O the new update is installed, aka just changing the number version that is in the file might work

When launching from Vortex (NMM) steam says I am playing Fallout 4. This should be fine right? For example after I close the game in Steam it says PLAY instead on install. Rebooting steam shows install again though.

Just a heads up, doing this will prevent you using any mods created from this point forward due to the changes made to the plugin system.

That is not true, esp plugins will always work no matter the version, and concerning .esl they were added with the addition of CC, i'm not sure about these but .esp plugins and .ESM will work all the time.

I don't think you're understanding what I meant. All versions of the game before this one cannot load plugins created or saved using the latest version of the Creation Kit that was released with the new update yesterday.

@@NovaFinch Are you sure, can for confirm this with tests, also this video is just so if people don't want to wait for F4SE to update, they can take control of their game for a few days, then when they put out a new version they can just put the .acf back and steam will update.

People have tested it, spurned on by the fact that if you try to use the old creation kit with an updated game it will fail to load the main Fallout4.esm. F4SE has already been updated and this video will just cause stupid people to never update their game and complain to mod authors about 'their game not working' when it's their own fault.

tried doing this but the acf file made a copy of itself, causing steam to still think fallout 4 is still installed. Any solution to this?
