When I watched your video days ago, I thought it was straight to the point and made perfect sense to me. Now that I went through the update and roll-back, I'm back here to say Thank You! So glad to be playing with my load order AND having access to the added materials. I'm crossing my fingers that errors don't pop up but right now it's acting like it was supposed to be this way! Love It!!

yeah, even if it was the case the update when run always worked, you are still leaving the chance of human error. this is a much more full proof answer. and i'm glad i was able to help save your game!

Thanks for the vid. I've done all this but it's good to review the information. I recently noticed that Steam was trying to update Skyrim SE, so I wanted to point out that when I went to check my manifest file to make sure Steam hadn't changed it, I've heard it does when Steam does it's own updates. My file was fine but I saw at least five backup files of the manifest and everyone was not read only, needless to say I changed all of them to read only. I think that's Steam's way of getting around any changes we make to the manifests. Thanks for your very detailed and clear information Video!

How do you have 300 mods? Doesn't Skyrim only allow 250 plug-ins ?? I have 240 plug-ins and I am getting worried lol

@@DylanCar Depends if the mod is flagged ESL or ESP. I technically have 281 active on vortex. It all depends on what mods and plugins it requires. If im not mistaken oldrim was 250. AS long as its below the 300 you should be fine.

Your mods look really good in the background play, do you have a load order or modslist somewhere?

I do not. I use vortex, so I'm not sure if I can get the actual load order for you, but I will look into it for you.

@@SolidShepard I also use vortex an easy way to find your load order is to, go to the mods tab(in my case left side of the screen) then at the top click something that says "open", once you did that 5 tabs will come up and you want to click on "open game application data folder", and your load order will be right there

Is it possible and practical to have TWO versions of the game? I'd like to have the Anniversary Edition AND keep my unupdated and heavily modded version available to play.

I believe if you do what I showed for the backup file, but leave the .dll in, it's possible if you use the backup as special edition. You would still have to turn the library file to read only. This is all dependent on if anniversary gets a different library file or if it keeps the same one. If it keeps the same one, it's not possible unless you get another computer or do a virtual machine and put anniversary on that one while keeping special edition on your current rig. I could not tell you for sure since I'm not taking the chance on anniversary myself. Lol atleast not until the modding community catches up with it. I might get SE on series x though. But if I where you, I'd just stick with your molded SE for now. There isn't much benefit in the upgrade at this point unless you are on console.

I got the itch to play just a few days ago, and my game had updated. (I think I accidentally launched it from steam directly) I've tried the Depot Downloader route to get the older .EXE file, and it didn't do anything. It still lunches in the newest patch. I'm just wondering if I'm screwed, and should consider the nuclear option. (complete mod wipe and start from scratch)

You are either going to have to do that, or test 1 mod at a time to see which ones still work and which ones don't. You can also just wait and see which mods get updated for anniversary. My suggestion right now would be to go back to oldrim for now until the modding situation gets better for anniversary.

Used this today, found there were two different 489830 files, a temp with a series of numbers after had been added, set both to read only so fingers crossed this works

I do not have the file you're talking about, not by those numbers. I do own a steam skyrim and it did update. is it possible that the file is located somewhere else? Also, will it be enough if I tell steam to update the game only when I play it, and then play it from SKSE from the game folder directly if I can't find the file? thank you in advance :)

i think the number probably changed when it updated. i know version roll back software does exist. i'd suggest looking into those so you can do this.
