Stop Getting Caught with Guillotine Chokes (AI hijacks Ramsey's voice)

I filmed this last year, and the audio was so bad, it was unusable. But instead of doing the reasonable thing and re-filming it, I waited for technology to catch up in order to use audio software to extract the almost unintelligible words from the original video, and dub it over with a computer generated surfer dude voice.
So, what's the video actually about? How to not get choked out by fixing your posture. This a an extremely common problem for beginner grapplers in BJJ, MMA, and every submission grappling combat sport. And it's a pretty simple problem to fix.

Lol, ya that was an interesting voice over. I can personally admit that my choke defense was atrocious when I first started rolling with bjj players on their open mat days. It really is a thing of practicing something enough, and not just knowing it. Like brock Lesnar getting caught with Frank Mirs knee bar. He mentioned how he practiced escaping it hundreds of times, but just couldn't do it at that moment. I on the other hand I didn't practice escaping a hundred times, but certainly knew them, they just weren't very natural for me to go to at the time. Our sambo was taught to us by a guy that learnt fairly authentic sambo, so going for the neck wasnt a thing. Yet the odd time we would still practice a choke and it's defense, but it just wasn't routine enough, so for the most part, we were very careless and worry free of our neck line. To this day offensively I'll still have a guy wondering what the heck I'm doing when I take his back, and don't even attempt to go for a rnc lol. Instead I'll try sneak a hammer lock in, or try set something else up. I blame it on my arms, but I'm pretty sure it's just that I'm doing something wrong and not getting enough practice in. I had mentioned neck cranks in a different comment and how some people perceive them as wrongful or something, but they are very underutilized in my opinion. A friend of mine, that's always been pretty decent at ne waza, has really been taking alot from catch wrestling, atleast I'm guessing, from what iv seen online with some guys, and he's had alot of success with them. The thing that's unique about neck cranks and chokes is that they work well against larger and stronger opponents. I can confirm that because I'm the larger, stronger opponent getting caught in them. In the right position a person can have alot of options. I'm not a bad grappler either. It's just that I still make mistakes, and an experienced grappler capitalizes on it, and in the right position, a head crank or choke seems to be most optimal. With a regular guillotine choke, sometimes I'll just Tank Abott out of it and just push my way out of it. With a neck crank, you can't do that, and I highly advise nobody to ever try do that. limbs though, I love the counters to armbars, and Limb attacks seem to be more easily defended by someone bigger and stronger. I rarely get armbarred. In my hobbiest opinion, neck cranks, as salty as their reputation is for some reason, are a very underutilized and underappreciated submission catagory.

Coach! If I'm not mistaken you have claimed in the past that wrestling is our natural way of fighting and that punches are unnatural because they risk doing permanent damage to both parties. Well, I'm not so sure anymore. I just saw one of my cats attack the other one in a not so friendly manner. She first threw her down flat to the ground and then followed up with two quick left hooks to the body. I don't mean swipes, I don't mean overhands, I don't mean with claws. I mean legitimate left hooks, and judging by the sound of the impact they also had real power behind them. After those punches she walked away, having made her point. On one hand I am of course saddened by my cats fighting, but on the other hand I just watched my cat throw a better left hook than many other people I've seen try it.

I've gotten pretty good at defending chokes reasonably. Usually I get caught in joint locks or neck cranks by beginners. The cranks usually do catch me by surprise cuz i least expect those. I was in a jujitsu class for the first time in over a yr, and I definitely got beat up, but I could still hold my own mostly and only got caught by joints, cranks, or 1 knee on belly can opener(pushed the air out of my lungs more than a choke or crank).

I know that you've dealt with some insecurity regarding your voice and while i haven't really followed that story i'm sure you've heard lots of nasty comments, because that is what happens when you've got someting that a lot of people wish they had instead!
