Love the coaching approach here. Rather than emulating the pros (99 percent of coaching videos), play winning tennis by mitigating limits in technique, fitness, etc

Straightforward advice for which everyone needs reminding. Watching your slice backhand video gave me a boost yesterday, hitting with a lot more bite and tough for the opponents to dig up. And hey, just because there's a few inches of snow on the ground doesn't mean it's not a good day for tennis!

Great, great advice for recreational players; the anxiety + the irrational desire to hit a winner during the rally are the doom of many a player. I'm watching your video from Vietnam, where it averages 86 F, how I salivate at the sight of snow around at the edges of the court...🤣

Great video! I loved to see, the snow around the court! Just wondering how cold was it when you recorded? Do you use a special ball for it to bounce well if it is below 0ºC? Thanks

Truth is if you can sustain a rally for 7 or 8 shots you'll win 95% of your matches at the rec level. "The opportunity of defeating the enemy is provided by the enemy himself.” Following Mike's advice to a T is a recipe for an overwhelmingly positive W/L ratio.

Try to dip the first return down to their feet and then go for pass or lob on the second ball.

Meike you had a video that suggested lot of rec players let the ball drop too low. I've seen this a lot due to lazy feet. Was hitting with an older player this week and he was content to reach forward, lean over, rather than move up to the ball. Rec players just reach for the ball too much instead of using proper footwork.

I am very guilty of “pulling the trigger” too soon when the rallies get long. As a result the ball flies wide or long. Never thought of this as a fight or flight situation but it makes total sense now. I want out of the point. Next time I will not fly. I’ll fight :-) Thanks Meike!

Hey, wait a minute! When did you watch me play? Every single point is relevant, except maybe the anxiety. The point of changing is so true, but my problem is boredom with lots of back and forth so I have to do something different. Thanks again, great tips.

Frohes Neues Meike, wishing you a swinging 2023. Wonder if you could comment on something Iga Świątek recently said in Melbourne as she prepares for Aussie Open und zwar regarding her first opponent saying that having already played against her in the past she at least now knows how her ball feels on her Racquet which is an advantage albeit visa versa. I found that small remark fascinating as it seems to imply that once you have played against someone you can actually feel on your racquet how they hit a ball and distinguish between different players which also implies being able to store that information and recall it when you play them again. Would you say this is a unique ability that only few might have or more general. It must also mean Tennis Racquets being able to transmit fine neauces through a players arm to the brains which, if true, then Tennis Racquet design, materials, length etc would influence that so to my last question, do Racquets have to conform to a particular norm or can be modified in weight, length, diameter etc for a particular player. Danke im voraus George

I would be interested in that as well. I thought it's just Trash Talk, to confuse your opponent. Would also love to know if there's something to it.

Hi Meike, so with that pyramid drill, if you miss one in the first round of 10 you get one 'penalty point ' and so in the next round you need to make 11. But you continue to say 11, 12, 13 and so on. But that's only when you keep missing one each time? What if you miss 4 in the first round? You need to make 14 in the next round? And when you miss 6 out of 14 in that round you'll need to make 20 in the next? Than it goes quickly and you'll end up having to hit a hundred 😁
@MeikeBabelTennis
@MeikeBabelTennis Жыл бұрын
If you miss a ball in one round you add it on in that round. So if you miss one ball when you're doing 10, you add one on to make it 11. Let's say you miss 3 you add on those three to make it 13. In the next round you're doing 11 as your base number and then add on according to your misses.
