He definitely forces people to play a different game and be more thoughtful of when they wanna trade pokes or impose their pressure, but that shouldn't warrant hate especially considered how it's not as powerful as the X version. It's annoying yes, but he's not getting away with robbery offense wise like some other Characters.

@@martinleyva666 All of which is fine. But a lot of players just want to be able to use the same cookie-cutter game plan against everyone. Sub-Zero stops that. Which is a good thing. It's nice to have different archetypes. Sub-Zero had no clone on MK11 so they whined about his 50/50 and slide. A lot of players are lazy and pathetic. Both options were very punishable and costly to Sub on block. Despite all the targeted hate at Sub-Zero in MK9, MKX, and MK11 he never won a single tournament. It was the same with Smoke in MK9. There were a lot of calls early on for nerfs because Smoke punishes stupid. Players that liked to stand back and just zone or do random jumps got killed by Smoke. He's an anti-zoner and a lot of people hated that.

@@panther2067 Correct, but they'd rather not have to deal with that strategy at all. Which is the point of why so many players whine about Sub-Zero and oppose Sub-Zero buffs. Leading up to the very first MKX patch Sonicfox led the charge on Twitter against Sub-Zero's Ice Clone. He opposed all Sub-Zero buffs for the rest of MKX. A lot of other players were happy to agree with him. Most players hate having to alter their game plans.

It drives me nuts when ppl say ‘We’ll, I don’t want certain characters coming back cos they were OP in the LAST game!’ 😵 1) MK games tend to have REDESIGNS of classic characters every time since the late 90s so they have to be relearned. 2) secondly, each game has new mechanics that affects the overall gameplay for each character. 3) third, archetypes have basically been removed cos ppl hate dealing with really good zoners and rushdown and grappler characters. 4) fourth, the roster changes so the meta will most likely be affected. 5) fifth, balance patches happen a lot so the meta is automatically changed by buffs and nerfs, and even BUGS affect balance! There are SO many factors that make it almost impossible to have even similar top tiers and bad match-ups for characters for each game in the same fighting game series.

Honestly, they hate on Subzero cuz he's always promoted a defensive playstyle in a game oriented about offense. Not to much to sub besides a clone & back peddling. But this is also why sub needs some love. People hate his 50/50, his ice clone, his dive kick and with Sareena (perfect lore synergy) it's just too easy to confirm combos but despise this, he has a lot of gaps in his strings and without meter and kameo, his damages are pretty low tier. S-Z MK11 was braindead and stupid but his MK1 version is far more interesting to play and his future buffs will make him more dangerous, on the good way.
