This is a great tutorial. It’s important that people know there are many, many artists who do photorealistic work in watercolor. It most certainly CAN be controlled.

Indeed! Just takes a bit of a more careful approach 😉

This is AMAZING! You are the best watercolor teacher on KZbin! You are the only one teaching loose watercolor a la prima! Watercolor when it’s tight looks like illustration but yours always looks like beautiful art! Love💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕

It would be awesome to now see you paint this in color, color is so hard to get values right!

This is what I like best about your channel. Teaching techniques. This is the first time that I notice you using Chinese calligraphy brushes. 😎

I zoomed into watch the parts with the eyes since it was subtle. And lo and behold there is a tiny dog sleeping over your shoulder. Pats and scratches to your muse.

Another amazing painting! My goal is to be able to paint people this effortlessly. You make it look easy and you show how to do it. Thank you!

Very grateful just to watch you paint such an interesting face. Your tips on letting watercolour do it's thing without interrupting was very well explained Liron and I watched keenly your timing when you applied the next layers of paint around the face. The different shades of the darks too. Just brilliantly done and explained. Thank you🐨

Do love your style of painting, Liron. This is so good. Have just finished painting a portrait of my teenage granddaughter which is in a more realistic style. Will paint another grandson portrait but in a looser style in monochrome. Hope it will turns out as good as yours.🤞🤞Have you ever looked at the artist Yong Chen? His approach to painting a portrait is so different to other artists.

Thanks for another amazing portrait lesson Liron. Could you tell me how I can get a good likeness. I can draw well but I’d like portraits to really look like the person, especially if it’s family. You mentioned in another comment about tracing a photo. How do you do it? Could you explain briefly? Thanks Liron.

Hey Barbara, not sure what Liron does but I print out a photo in black and white and then trace against a window. At least the major points so I can get the scale and proportions right. HTH
