Quite a few have asked how they can secure against changing your iCloud or Apple ID password on iPhone. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching, it is always appreciated.
@wisdomyaw03 Жыл бұрын
The fact of the matter is that, there really isn't anything Apple can do about it now besides making it impossible to recover your AppleID in the event that you forget your iCloud password. Some people say that Apple should request for your old AppleID password when trying to change your password. The problem here is that, by doing so you can't gain access to your AppleID again if you forget your password. If someone gains access to your iPhone password/passcode they can still change your AppleID password without going into settings. All they have to do is try to login to your iCloud through the web, and go through the "forgot password" method. They'll receive the two factor authentication code through SMS or mail on the same iPhone and change your iCloud password. The only viable solution is to protect your iPhone password/passcode as much as possible.

Or the lady that got her Apple ID locked out, could’ve just used a more complicated password instead of a 4digit password. She wouldn’t have been a victim. I see many people use the 4 digit number passcode, it’s just ridiculous how little awareness they have.

Thanks for the informative video Aaron, I was wondering can somebody remotely change your passcode or Apple ID password through malware or some kind of malicious software sent to your Iphone :? Do you have an idea?

I saw this "vulnerability" a few weeks ago on another channel and until then never knew this was a thing. Thanks for getting the message out. Why Apple have taken a decision to require you to enter your password in order to use the app store but not to change your password is madness!
@ColonelLucario Жыл бұрын
I saw that with WSJ video It’s a huge security issue And if Apple allows this is because the iPhone is considered as a « safe » device But the old password must ALWAYS been entered to know for sure it’s you I hope it will be fixed as soon as possible
@Damariobros Жыл бұрын
@@ColonelLucario If they absolutely MUST make it so you don't have to enter your old password, perhaps for in case you forget your password, then they need to add back in secret questions. The old legacy 2-Step Verification will ask you for secret questions when you attempt to enter iCloud settings from an iPhone or iPad, it's why my iCloud account doesn't have this vulnerability, I still have the legacy 2-Step Verification enabled.

@@ColonelLucario Doesn't mean they need to get rid of the 6-digit code 2FA, just means, there needs to be secret questions or some other kind of verification for when you're accessing sensitive Apple ID settings from an Apple device. This can be bypassed by going to forgot passcode in screen time and entering your Apple ID and and selecting forgot password. It will ask for your phones passcode and even with screen time on, your Apple ID can be located in the app store settings.

That’s why when asked you should tap „cancel“ instead of entering your Apple ID for recovering the code. There‘ll be a popup asking if you‘re sure you‘ll have to click away. That way resetting the password using your Apple ID is somehow still possible, but not without your Apple ID password.

Oh, I just tested this: even then, knowing your Apple ID Mail is sufficient to reset the Apple ID password then. Just a little harder. Sadly you‘re absolutely right, hope Apple fixes this asap

I just went to iCloud through Safari, entered the remembered password with the code as i hid Face ID recognition, entered my phone passcode, and voila. I went through the link leading to Apple ID’s page. And i could also enter the previous remembered Apple ID password through phone passcode. One way to prevent this might be to prevent the iphone to remember iCLoud password. What do you think ?

How has Apple not notice about this? So many security updates, but all of that is pointless if someone can literally just change your Apple ID or iCloud Password with just knowing you Passcode? Apple clearly didn't think that one through, yet they have been pushing several security patches as well as updates, but this literally throws all those updates to waste. Thanks for this video! I was not expecting for Apple to miss that one. I feel like I'm more secure when I watch your videos than when I actually update my phone, which clearly is useless if someone can just change your Apple passwords if they know your passcode. WOW APPLE SERIOUSLY?!?! I'm concerned about Apple's security now... It isn't all that great after all

The only problem that still exist is you can still go to settings then passwords and use the same phone passcode you use to unlock your phone to unlock that folder and gain access to all your passwords saved in your keychain you use for safari. Apple needs to do the same exact thing they did with screen time. Set the password folder in settings to use a different passcode and not the one used to access your device so no one that knows your passcode to your device can get access to your password folder. There is not a way to block that password folder in screen time that I know of which makes ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE TO ME. I'm surprised that Apple has not looked into this problem yet.

Sadly this only obfuscates it because you can still quite easily find your Apple ID email and phone number. And then you can reset it in settings and disable this. Same obviously goes for your password manager etc because you have your email on your phone and your phone receives confirmation texts. But this will hopefully buy you some time to mark it stolen.
