Learned to tie that knot 30+ years ago when I was stationed in Alaska. We tied rigs with 2 hooks in sequence and used cured salmon roe for King salmon.

Hell yeah brother, head out the elmondorf side of base right down to Jim's creek. What a duty station, salmon and trout in just about every stream and pond for miles and miles around and no one to pressure them. Good times.

I'm about to turn 65 years old when I was a toddler we would fish the Sacramento River pretty strong current fishing for catfish we used to use clams because they were very affordable we would fix them to the hook so they wouldn't come off with sewing thread white sewing thread out of mom's sewing box and it worked really well I've used it since I guess what it still works really well

Good info what size weight should i use? Fishing sac soon
@TimEdwards-sx2pq8 ай бұрын
My basic Sacramento River set up is with 15 lb line or more tie a loop knot at the end of the line for your weight that way you can change out to whatever weight is appropriate to hold the current you're in above that add more loops for however many more hooks you want to add to your line using snelled hooks allows you to vary to your liking the hook size but typically an ounce or two depending on where you're at in the current is a good place to start

The rod he speaking about is an awesome rod. I recently purchased it. I used it in Rock Port. It is a worth while purchase. Pair it with either a 5000 or 4000. I paired mine with a 5000 Penn Battle III.

No fish yet..to cold here. BUT my thumb is raw and bleeding from trying a couple hundred of these knots practicing! Walmart had bulk packs of mustad Snapper and trout circles hooks on clearance for $2.50 a pack! I bought some 50 pound and 30 pound mono to practice with. I bough five bulk packs. Most have 34 to 40 hooks. I’m down to about a half pack that don’t have egg loop leaders tied to them.

Here's something about the whiteing I bet nobody knows. They are the warm water cousin of the Corbina of Southern California and Northern Baja Mexico. They look exactly the same down to the barble under the lower jaw. The only difference is The Corbina gets much bigger. Corbina is a prized catch for their fight and excellent table fare.

Hi mate I like the Egg Loop Knott I have been Surf Fishing for about 50 years and I’m a Qualified Marine Biologist. I’ve noticed when you reel your Fish in you should not lift them out of the water still attached to the line by doing this you damage the Fishes Inturnal Organs and if you release them they will most likely die. How you counter this you either lift the Fish out of the water in a landing net or Skull drag them out of the water and lift them up with your hand these techniques ownly take you a fue more seconds to do. And you release the Fish the wrong way you should not thro them back into the water like a pice of Rubbish by doing this the Fish can go into shock and die you should place the Fish back in to the water big or small with your hands. Theyway you land and release Fish it is not a good look I have watched Fisher people all over the world and they all Fish this way it has to Stop hopefully by you setting this new example people all over the World will follow. Tight Lines. Laurie from down under.

That’s were you are wrong mate I’ve seen the evidence of fish dieing from these Fishing practices I’m one of the most qualified person to talk about this subject. If the majority of Fishing people do not change the way they Fish don’t be surprised if the Animal rights Movement pressure the Government to ban Amateur Fishing for good. Regards Dr Laurie.
