Tony has a bone to pick with y'all... don't move here without visiting first. Stop it. Okay, okay... for some people this can work. BUT for the most part, you should visit Ghana first and then consider moving here, start the renting or buying process and work towards citizenship. The order here matters. Here's why.

I took my first trip to Ghana on a tour in 2011 . Toured for 2 weeks . We were advised if we wanted to Repat that we should visit several times , I went back on a tour in 2015 for another 2 weeks . I went on a 2019 trip solo for 10 days. I went to get the flow of the society and to see if I was comfortable with day to day things. Then Covid came and caused a standstill. I stayed patient and now because of that I was able to do a DNA test and got Citizenship in Sierra Leone last year. To sum it up be patient, plan and miracles will happen. Now I opened a bank account with EcoBank and will be sending money over to prepare for move. Step by Step and everything is falling into place

This is sound advice but there is more to it than just that. @@ypk7858 Yes, some people just don't have the money or time to visit even once but must make a life change and they have the money for that. They study their chosen destination online and watch unlimited GOOD, ACCURATE YT vids to learn at a distance. I do agree with the hosts that everyone should plan to visit if at all possible. This video is geared towards those who are able. I'm not here to come on their channel and refute what they are saying. There are many great YTubers who encourage and help those who must make a jump start to Ghana or anywhere. Today, YT and the internet make it possible to make wonderful informed decisions. And some people are well-known to just make things work. For them, there is simply no going back. They always have a can-do spirit and they make it work.

Doing all my research and dudilligece so my transition will be smooth. Going to come, explore, then buy a home in the best area available. Caution my brother's and sisters, I'm also from the 🇺🇸 USA and loving the laid back atmosphere here in Accra Ghana. Facts in Expat of Ghana put out on their podcast. Its not for everyone and there will be requirements you will need to sustain in Ghana inorder to feel right at home, rule number one have a steady stream of income coming in monthly or have lots of money put away in your bank account because you gonna need it. Rule number 2 is you must live like a Ghanaian onece you settle in if you don't then you can easily mismanage the funds you have saved. Rule number 3 is don't come here trying to live a western lifestyle and over paying for housing when it not required because there plenty of affordable places in Ghana. Rule number 4 is make sure you use the local markets as much as possible to save on your food costs to maintain a sensible budget. Rule number 5 its best to buy a cheap used vehicle here if you require one.

I was thinking about this topic after reading many comments of people wanting to move there. Its very different from the US and definitely not for the faint of heart. One does need to visit and learn from others experience also. We all want a change sometimes but don't go off the deep end without knowing what your in for. I personally can deal with Ghana but my husband is coming next year to US his biggest concern is Healthcare cuz we are aged however I would still take my chances there I love the sun, food and culture.

@@saanichannel533 - Please, don’t tell people such lives, that all their health issues will disappear once they are in Ghana. That is utterly false. If that were true, practically no Ghanaians who live in Ghana would have any health issues such as cancers, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, etc. These and other health challenges in Ghana are published in medical and healthcare journals, and not just something I believe. On a personal note, I was in Ghana for 10-straight months (January 2020-November 2020), and I ate mostly the same foods that ordinary Ghanaians ate; I walked far more while I was there than I do in the U.S. I was under no particular stress because my intended 3-month stay was being prolonged due to the pandemic, the closure of the borders in Ghana, shutdown of airport, etc. I certainly had no concerns about money because I had plenty of it on me, in savings, and a weekly replenishment of my bank account. All that, and not only was my blood pressure still high, it went even higher while I was there-the highest it had ever been. My glaucoma didn’t go away, either. The vitamin D from the son made me feel Breyer, and my skin glowed beautifully, no preexisting conditions magically disappeared. Please, stop being reckless, trying to romanticize Ghana/Africa.

Ayo, did you say your dad is a Ghanaian and yet you have been waiting for three years to obtain your Ghanaian citizenship? If I may I would suggest that you first try to obtain your Ghana card. There are two requirements. First, your dad's name must be featured on your birth certificate. And second, your dad must sign a declaration that you are indeed his daughter. If your dad is unable to do so, a relative say a brother or sister can do so on his behalf. My daughter who is bi-racial like you visited in December 2022. She went to NIA with her birth certificate with my name on it and followed all the procedures. When it got to the point where I needed to authenticate that she is my daughter, i drove there and signed the declaration. Presto, she was issued with a Ghana card. She is now applying for a Ghanaian passport.
