Love this back to basic stuff. Painting doesn't have to be a complicated nightmare with piles of gear and overwhelming concepts. Keep it simple! 😁
@leichtmeister2 жыл бұрын
Actually he choose the most complicated approach to think of. I get the "don't use piles of gear". But even without special gear like an airbrush, you can paint waaaay simpler and getting a better result.

We basically only play OPR right now and I got one of my mates to use the NZ base ready mix as well. OPR Firefight and 10mm regiments is a match made in heaven for base ready material... shelled out a complete Khemri army in next to no time!

THANK YOU so much for this video :-) I am sick and tired of other people going on about airbrushing base primers/zenithal highlights and so much more, that I have now unsubscribed to many of their channels, as they just make me feel like the past 50 years of my figure painting hobby, and all I learned using basic brushes/paints and so much more, were wasted unless I use an airbrush and expensive Channel owned products. I LOVE simple, one page rules games, as my memory can't upload another 500 page rule book, followed by a 200 page codex, a card set and whatever else game manufactures expect us to buy today, just to play a simple skirmish level game, let alone a huge, massive battle using all my and my opponent's minis/terrain. Love your simple colour scheme, which really makes this lizard man stand out in the end :-) Sometimes, less truly is more, and the simpler the techniques/equipment, with a little skill thrown in, can result in some stand-out minis for you to play with :-D
@scathezombiestu2 жыл бұрын
My thoughts exactly. I recently picked up Warcry as an entry back into the hobby; simple rules, quick set up, easy to teach, small model count, etc. But fook me GW haven't half made a mess of being able to get the rules to actually play the game. I've had to research and buy so many additional products to get the info I need. I wouldn't be so frustrated if at least the books were full of cool artwork and inspiring photos. I can't even identify what a model looks like as they only put a photo of the miniature's face on the "fighter cards" and don't caption the scenic photos anymore. I'd love to just Oldhammer my way into the hobby, but haven't got the time nor can I bring myself to spend the insane amounts of money needed (as if modern minis aren't expensive enough as it is).

As someone who never got into contrast or speed paints and barely ever use my airbrush for anything other than priming this is basically how I do all my painting. And yes it actually does indeed take me about 200 hours to paint an army,thank you for asking.
@nightingale46322 жыл бұрын
I dont even use airbrush or spraycan to prime. I just find it boring. Way more relaxing for me to brush prime.
@Arcanua2 жыл бұрын
@@nightingale4632 I used to do that but then got spraycan, not as annoying to do but I want to try airbrushing it at some point. Still do the rest by hand though and with bigger models. Don't have the eyes for minis anymore I hate it.

Loving One Page Rules Saurian army. The lizardmen from GW haven't had an update in a long time, and they look goofy compared to the artwork in the Codex's and in more recent designs like Total War: Warhammer II. The Kroxigors and Saurus warriors (Saurian Gators and Warriors) look amazing, and look a lot closer to the incredible designs for TW:WHII. It's been a long time since I've been into the hobby, but this definitely makes me want to dip my toes back in, even if it's just to paint some of these models rather than play.

Nice to see you enjoying painting. Love it, i started out with the saurian army a few months ago after deciding I needed a fresh start and a new perspective on painting. All my models sort of looked the same in a boring way. Loads of details, lots of weathering and too much time. I've switched it up to my own colour schemes, bright colours and no washes. 80's hot pink, purples and blues mixed with a stylised cel-shade style. I'm enjoying this so much more. @@johnathanrhoades7751 Oh don't worry, I am sure you have a long time to enjoy. I had bad health and also got hurt, so everything was sped up. But hey, it is not really losing a skill, you can adjust otherwise. For me, the mini-hobby was converting and constructing / lore building vs painting or playing. I've always started with a character model because they tend to be the most detailed so I always saw that getting a more complex model done first helps planning for the rank and file. I've also started limiting myself down with colour choices and mixing as much as possible because sometimes its really easy to run away with youself and before you know it you've got 20 different paints out and use 15 of them for tiny details (Slight exaggeration but I'm sure you all get the point)

I watched your video with Miniac, Ninjon, and Guy where you were asked why you think you aren't a good painter. Well, all I can say is that you are either the most modest man I've ever watched or full of the brown stuff. OK you may not win a golden Demon any time soon, but compared to the great unwashed like me, I wish I had your skill and accuracy when it comes to painting minis. I agree we Yorkshiremen always do ourselves down, but credit where credit's due that was a great paint job.
