I drew 77 pansies for my Mothers recent birthday, as cut out shapes with watercolour pencils, then put them randomly over a poster she already had. I didn’t overthink with the colours & shapes. I am just loving all your watercolor doodle videos! They inspire me to create because they are so simple yet sublimely beautiful. They just give me joy when I see them so I know that this way of painting will help me get myself out of a slump. I’ve been taking walks in a local forested park and taking pictures of emerging plants and flowers that I fancy and of the creek that runs through it. I am always looking for things in nature to paint so I take tons of shots for reference.

What I find amazing is as you made this - 1. I know it was in the high humid 80's in Miami - and my A/C has been broken so about 85 in the house - argh. So it was nice to think of you being cool (My A/C still isn't working and I'm awake at 3 am - cause it's pretty (too) warm. 2. The palatte of your leaves - I was just releasing butterflies I raised inside this week because I didn't want them to wash off in our hard rains - and the colors are many many shades of greens, some reds, and purples - and the shapes - well - tropical. It was lovely to see into your world tonight - I'm sure I will watch it again - and try it with my "mental" foliage - I don't think I'd ever use black - by the time it may be black here - it's become "earth." It was so nice to remember late spring walks from after the snow when I lived in New York - with leaves like yours. - I'm gonna subscribe!

OMG ..... I am 69 and I cannot draw to save myself and have never drawn anything. I watched this video as suggested to me by my granddaughter as I have wanted to learn how to water colour on the fronts of the cards I make. So I tried. I loved it. What a nice little view you have from your drawing table. I used to live near the ocean, and could look out at the bay while I worked....now I live in the woods and it’s always dark and there is no where bright and nice to set up. Aren’t those Silver brushes great? I have an order coming today from Jerry’sArtarama that includes 3, getting them for my niece, as I am giving her a 24 set of the lower grade Sennelier pan watercolors and some decent paper. During the quarantine she just threw herself unexpectedly into art and I want to encourage her to keep it up. Those brushes are such awesome quality for the price, and so pleasurable to paint with.

If you’re looking for black waterproof markers, look into a website for histological supplies. I work in that field and a lot of the markers I love and use are waterproof , ethanol resistant and xylene resistant. They are technically meant for labelling slides.
