I like both the black pen and the colored pencils. They add texture, mood and a visual interest that supports the painting. I found this demonstration and the piece to be very calming. The colored pencils support an intuitive approach. I like this very much. However, when using the black, I love how line weight becomes the hero of the story. So.... just do it! Let the force be with you.

Now that my Grandkiddos are teens & are no longer into GMa crafts I wanted to try something new & have always loved water color. I had recently begun to try and use watercolor with little satisfaction. Your channel has helped me in so many various was. What a great idea to relax and just be creative! I love this. I’m definitely gonna give this a try in my sketchbook. 😊 I love the gold too.
