*Any more tips for packing the perfect personal item?!* Let me know in the comments :) And I hope you enjoyed that cameo from my panda, Paul! Just FYI, I don't actually pack him for every trip but hey, I could think of no better item to represent 'sentimental valuables' haha.
@susie98932 ай бұрын
Do you ever fly personal item only? I'd be interested to see how you prioritise in that case. I'm working on this for my next trip - shoulder season, so it will be a challenge (summer is easy)
@HappytoWander2 ай бұрын
@@susie9893 Unfortunately with my laptop and big camera, travelling with just a personal item would never be possible for me haha, but if I didn't have that gear, here is what I would pack for one week (anything longer, I'd just do laundry): - 4 tops - 3 bottoms - 7 pairs of underwear - 7 pairs of socks (or 2-3 merino wool socks) - And a warmer layer like a jacket or sweater depending on the season For shoulder season, I'd focus on wearing warm layers on the plane e.g. a thicker sweater, a jacket, jeans, etc. and then filling your personal item with lightweight base layers (like what you would pack for summer). Sure you'll have to repeat outfits but to me that's not a big deal anyway! Hope that helps.
@susie98932 ай бұрын
@@HappytoWander thanks hon. I was focusing more on base layers than you (but planning next trip for UK, and I'm Aussie so I feel the cold more than you do). But I was actually more focused on the extraneous items e.g. tech, toiletries, first-aid etc. How do you minimise that sort of thing? I know I can buy things there but I tend to have a busy itinerary and resent having to take time to replenish my supplies
@greggchristensen85242 ай бұрын
The airlines run out of room in the overhead bins is because people place everything in the bin and dont care that they are hogging the bin space. If people were considerate this would not be a problem.
@susie98932 ай бұрын
Also allowing people in preferred seating to carry on extra without considering how that will affect everyone else in the section 😠 I'm starting to *try* to do personal item only bcos I narrowly avoided being forced to check my bag on my last trip, several times
@HappytoWander2 ай бұрын
Travel would be much easier if everyone was considerate haha. Sadly I find that to not often be the case 🙈 I hate when my overhead compartment is completely full even when no one else has sat down in my row yet. Scrambling to find additional space elsewhere is such a drag!
@sgrant98142 ай бұрын
It is the airline responsibility that, when seeing people board with more than or larger than, allowed items, they stop them and force them to check the disallowed or "overage" items...as well, only carryons go above...personal items under seat
@aznmarinex22 ай бұрын
Not true, if everyone had the max carry on size it wouldnt be enough. The size of the overhead bins are so it goes more than 1 row. There are also places where medical and emergency equipment take up part of the bins.
@susie98932 ай бұрын
@@sgrant9814 but they don't. People put their personal items up there all the time, + jackets. And they allow people in preferred seating to carry on pretty much whatever they want, from what I've observed. Then they have gate agents force people in basic economy seats to check bags that aren't oversized. I've seen this (happily not happened to me so far)

At some point, there will be Bento Bag knock-offs available at a fraction of the cost. Already I see bags at places like Sam”s club for half the cost of some bags I see that are popular and also online of the same bags. It just takes time. I also have found Bagallini bags at TJ Maxx for a lot less now and snagged a couple of cute ones for a fraction of the cost going on VIP Mondays and using my rewards points plus the fact that they are already discounted from the original retail price.

That bento bag would be cumbersome for me as I like those very small backpacks so that I have my hands free.. I use My very small luggage carryon (smaller than airport flight requirements) and I tend to pack very light with dark or black colors and lightweight clothing. A flat money belt hidden under my shirt to carry small amounts of foreign currency, passport and ID etc. . I put a small light weight tiny travel purse bag in my carryon or tiny backpack so that when I arrive to my destination I take it out if needed. I don’t ever check in luggage but carry everything on the plane even if my trip is for over a week. I know insane minimalist. Thanks for video. Always like to learn new things. 🎉

Nice video and great suggestions. I have the bento v4 and used it on Delta airlines. I did have difficulty squishing it under the seat. Tried it upright, on it's side, etc. The person in the seat in front of me spilled a whole diet coke on my bento. I wiped it off the best I could and the coke didn't leave any residue that I could see. I did have difficulty carrying the bag fully loaded. I'm 5'3" tall and it was back breaking. I still love the bag though. I may use it on non-flight trips and only pack it half full.

So, I’m not too picky in regards to neck pillow as long as my head will not land on the other people I’m fine. October 9, 2024: Hi. New subscriber and appreciate the comparisons. I am deliberating investing into the Bento bag. I have used so many. From ulitarian to cute or trendy. Does not work. Cute black is a slimming color! The Bento bag has lots of compartments. When deciding how long I am going or also personal to business makes a huge difference. With a business or conference note has to be taken with is it a casual meeting or formal. The formal means shoes. Another overall consideration for either down time or back and forth to the airport is the weather.

I used that bag as my carry-on with a nice reusable nylon shopping bag for my fall jacket and seat survival. I flew on Iceland Air this past Sept. On 3 legs of my trip. They use Boeing planes. My husband sits in the window seat and I sit in the middle seat. I can't find a small backpack or tote that is that small, and even more annoying is the fact of when i put my bag under the seat in front of me, there was WAY more room - I could have EASILY fit a regular over-packed backpack under that.
